Chapter 5 - Her.
My newly dark brown hair, with a hint of red, fell in waves around my face. It was the best decision I had ever made. My light hair was long gone, as well as the long locks.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My eyes seemed even greener with the dark locks surrounding my face.
It was soft and shining and looked much healthier than before. It wasn't that long anymore; the gentle waves stopped right below my jawline. This was the new me.
"It looks beautiful," Caleb whispered next to me, his dark eyes meeting mine in the mirror.
We hadn't spoken a word to each other since our conversation in the car. I needed to process everything he had told me. He didn’t seemed bothered by the fact that he had just told me Roman’s darkest secret.
"Who knew your eyes was actually that color," he teased, as he squeezed his eyes together.
I blushed slightly at his words. But, he was right, the soft brown spots in my eyes weren't as visible as before. The forest dark green dominated now.
"Don't ever go blonde, babe. I love this dark look on you. It makes you even more mysterious and attractive," Caleb continued with his teasing, making my cheeks heat up once more.
The hair dresser laughed behind us. She had been really patient with me. It took me about 30 minutes to finally figure out what exact color I wanted. I didn't know there was this many choices to choose from. After my father passed away, a haircut was completely out of the question in the household.
It was usually my brother who trimmed the edges of my hair with the old kitchen knife.
"Caleb, stop." I laughed at his innocent reaction.
“What?” he asked, as he pointed at himself, “I’m not doing anything.”
I laughed again as he winked. His teasing had always made me feel wanted and girly. Roman never made me feel completely wanted, because I knew he was just playing with my feelings.
His heart truly belonged to another girl; a dead girl. I pushed the jealousy aside and suppressed it, as I had done with everything else in my life.
My inner bomb was slowly and dangerously building itself bigger and bigger. It was nearly ready to explode; I could feel it. My temper had been rising slowly and my patience had shortened.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I noticed Caleb staring at me. He sent me a soft smile when he realized he had been busted.
“You really do look beautiful, Belle.”
“Thank you,” I whispered.
“You are very welcome, my love,” he imitated Roman. The small smile on my face grew bigger at his bad attempt on sounding like Roman; even though he got the words right. Caleb could truly make me smile anytime. He made me smile more than Roman did.
However, he couldn’t give me that certain rush of excitement and desire which Roman was capable of giving me. Yet, Caleb’s love haunted me every time someone spoke his name and it always would. Knowing he liked me was too much to handle. Especially when I couldn’t love him back.
The sound of a phone bibbing in the quiet salon brought my attention to the source of the sound. Caleb gracefully looked at the screen on his phone before frowning and turning to me.
“I should get you back to Roman. He’s probably wondering where you are,” Caleb said, his body in a sudden tense position.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
