White Space - ORIGINAL POEM

Where I once inhabited the in-between, the step between this way and that, one foot either side of the border, there is now white space,

Where I once lived as either distinctively this nor that, a body split between two paths, androgyny in human form, there is now white space,

Where I once shifted between forms, states of being dictated by my dress, my friends, my family, society at large, there is now white space,

Where I once moved in transition, travelling towards a pre-determined destination, confident and certain, there is now white space,

Men I feared, woman I am not, man to protect me, who I am not; am I this, am I that, am I nothing at all, all that I feel is a blank canvas, empty, white space for a new me each passing day.
