Clarke POV~

Dawn came faster than anticipated causing doubt to settle deep within. Am I doing the right thing? Maybe Bellamy is right, maybe the grounders don't want peace. The swirling thoughts and doubts lacing my brain caused a heavy headache to set in. The people in this camp relied on my guidence and depended on me to resolve this grounder situation. A lot of people suggested fighting and war---Bellamy included---but I didn't want anymore blood on my hands. We've lost too many lives already. It was time to change and get to the bottom of these attacks. Something had to be done.

"Ready, Princess?" It was Bellamy who happened to sneak up behind me unintentionally. A weak smile rose to my face before slowly fading into the abyss. Bell's nickname for me wasn't one of my favorites, but I learned to live with in.

"As ready as I'll ever be" I muttered as I turned towards him to check out the duffelbag full of guns and some food. He packed double the amount of guns and ammo that we needed and plenty of food as if we were planning a feast. "Do we really need this much ammo and food?" I asked worried other people might go hungry if we took more than our share.

"I'm a growing man, princess. Man's gotta eat" He grinned before continuing, "Plus you could use some meat on your bones, too" He stated playfully as he pinched my arm in a teasing manner. His teasing earned him a dangerous glare.

"You know..Octavia would be the perfect person to bring along.." I brought up again knowing Bellamy would most likely shoot the idea down without a second thought. I hated how he didn't even think half the time. He's too impulsive when it comes to big decisions. I knew Octavia was his little sister and all, but she would be highly beneficial on this trip. She knows the forest better than anybody here and she knows the most about the grounders. The rumors of Octavia falling for a grounder weren't very secret. I think his name was Lincoln. Octavia learned valuable skills from a very own grounder making her a valuable asset.

"Clarke. We went over this. Octavia's not coming. End of story" Bellamy seemed so calm and collected. It even caught me off guard for a second. I slowly nodded figuring it was worth a try to see if he'd changed his mind. If I pressed too far I might make him too pissed where he won't want to come with me. I needed him to come with me.

"Well, we should go then.." I suggested as Bellamy nodded in agreement. It wasn't worth arguing until Bellamy decided it wouldn't be worth him going. My gaze drifted over to the forest as I slung my backpack over my shoulder. The forest was both welcoming and dangerously alluring even after I learned how deadly it really could be. For once I was glad to have Bellamy by my side in this mission. I don't know what I'd do without his support and guidance. Throughout everything Bellamy stood by my side for the most part. I trusted him even if we barely knew each other. Neither of us know our lives back on the ark. We just know who we are now and that's all that matters.

"You know..you never told me what your life was like back on the ark," I offered hoping he'd open up to me a little bit. Honestly, I was curious about his past whether it was good or bad. We all had skeletons in our closets and I wanted Bell to share his with me. I know that is asking a lot, but something pushed me to press for the information.

Bellamy gave me a weary, uneasy glance before gazing off at a tree or something. I felt the tension radiating off of his body. Great, now he couldn't even look at me. Regret began to wash over me as I wished I could take back my words.

"It doesn't really matter...that part of my life is over now," He finally broke the silence allowing me to breathe again. "You don't seem like the background questioning type, princess," Bell offered as he gazed my way with a mixture of compassion and curiosity. I nodded feeling a little guilty about even bringing up his past on the ark. Obviously it wasn't something he was too fond about and it looked as though it hurt him just thinking about it.

"Yeah..sorry. I..I..uh," I didn't know what to say. My cheeks flushed with vibrant pinks and reds. Bellamy playfully punched my shoulder with a grin.

"Don't worry about it." He offered playfully with a teasing smirk. I rubbed my shoulder pretending his punch was painful. I saw Bellamy's face go from playful to dead set serious and his eyes showed a trace of concern in them. "Are you alri--"

I punched him in the arm playfully with the same grin he gave me. Better to leave the past in the past rather than let it control my life. It happened, there's nothing I can do or say that will change that. Bellamy's serious nature faded into a devilish playfulness. Before I knew it he tackled me to the ground laughing as I his the tough dirt with a thud. A slight scream escaped my throat as we started to tumble down a small hill. Once we came to a halt, Bellamy was lying on top of me in a tangled mess. I even found myself clinging onto him for a slight second. Pushing him off of me I turned my playful side off leaving my serious side to come out to play.

"Don't ever do that again!" I snapped while Bell got to his feet brushing off the fifth that clung to his outfit. Dirt lingered on my clothes, also, but I didn't care. We were off to make peace with the people who killed several of our people. Here was Bell trying to goof off and play games. He may not care about our people's future, but I did. Something needed to be done and fast. Before anymore people died because of this war we didn't know we started.

Bellamy looked as if he was a little boy getting in trouble for eating the last cookie out of the cookie jar without permission. Guilt seeped into me as I started to feel bad for yelling at him. Wait. This is exactly what he wants. He wants me to feel bad so he can eat up the satisfaction of the apology I was about to give to him.

"You're an ass" I told him before turning in the direction where the grounder camp was suppose to be located at. Bellamy didn't say a word as he followed quickly behind my fast pace. The surrounding wood were unfamiliar and at any turn there could be danger. Taking the lead I kept an eye out for any sign of movement or a potential threat. The terrifying thing about the grounders was the fact that they were so silent and came out of nowhere. Taking careful steps around twigs and crunchy leaves, making sure I didn't make a sound. Since I didn't hear the footsteps of Bellamy, I figured he was doing the same thing. It was very important that we show the grounders we want peace, but they didn't seem like the type of people who would accept trespassing. It was fairly obvious we were in straight up grounder territory, too. Not a sound came from Bellamy nor I for a reason.

"Do you know how much longer?" I swear Bellamy was like a little kid at the most inconvenient times. Honestly, I don't know how he can go from whiny, playful child to serious, alluring adult in only two seconds.

I wasn't able to answer Bellamy for all I could hear was a faint 'whoosh' sound. Before I knew what had happened I was on the ground with a stinging, hot sensation pulsating in my shoulder. Glancing at my shoulder with confusion filling my eyes I noticed a large arrow had pierced through my soft flesh. My mouth was gaping wide open trying to scream, but only silent gasps came out. Quickly, Bellamy lifted me into his arms with a protective, yet deadly gaze set on nobody in particular. He blamed himself for allowing me to go through with this plan. The throbbing sensation in my shoulder grew cold then returned back to blazing hot. I felt faint as my eyes fluttered open and closed and then open again. Bell was desperately racing back to camp carrying me in his muscular arms. No more arrows dared to fly our way and that really stumped me. Why wouldn't they finish off the job? They want us dead don't they?

"Clarke, I swear to god, don't you dare close your eyes" Bellamy's tone would have scared me if I wasn't slowly fading into unconsciousness. His gaze kept shifting from in front of him to me and back to in front of him. I stared up at his face seeing the fear of losing me in his eyes. He ordered me to stay with him, but I couldn't help it. I closed my eyes, however, his face was still imprinted in my mind.
