On Thursday morning, I walked down the same, bland, gum-ridden sidewalk, towards my school. Only this time, a hand tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around ready to kick whoever it was in the balls. (whether they had them or not, not making any assumptions here)

It was just Harry.

~

"Oh, you're back!" she exclaimed, faking surprise. She looked she didn't want to talk.

"Yeah, clearly."

She looked back towards the ground. Then, back up.

She looked me in the eye.

Damn, she was serious today. She's scary when she's serious.

"Ok, ok"

"Why weren't you here?"

"I had a really high fever." I responded, trying so hard not to lie. (even though it was true)

"You aren't fooling anyone" she sighed

"What?"

"Nothing."

~

I came in late today. I had a doctor's appointment (not that anyone cares...) and I hadn't finished my history report. I got here two minutes before the bell rang.

After signing into the office, the bell rang and, by instinct, I went to Katie's locker. In the sea of people, I looked around and didn't see her. I didn't see Harry either (he's probably still dead).

I went up to a teacher in the hall and asked what time it was.

"Get to the lunchroom, sweetheart. I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss your meal!" she cheered

Oh I will go.

Right after I find Katie.

~

I walked with Katie to the lunchroom. She was really absorbed into her book. I didn't want to bother her, so I had to steer her around the hall instead. We hit, like, seven people. Usually, I'm good at Mario Kart, but Katie is really wobbly.

We arrived at our table, which usually consisted of Me, Her, Allison, and Greg. (Katie sits in between me and Alli, while Greg sits on my empty side.) But, Allison had a doctor's appointment, so she isn't here yet. She'll probably be here soon.  I helped her take off her bookbag, and being the bookworm she is, Katie didn't take her eyes off of the page. She sat down.

"Aren't you guys going to buy lunch?" Greg asked, ham and cheese sandwich in hand.

"Yeah, but she said she was almost done with the chapter. I can wait."

"The things people do for women" Greg snarled

I shot him a glare. If daggers came out of my eyes, I wouldn't have been surprised.

"Done!" she exclaimed

I grinned at Greg. Then at Katie.

"Ready?" I motioned towards the lunch lines

"Yeah, vamonos."

We ran towards the pizza line and stood there quietly. Then she turned her sparkling, hazel eyes in my direction. She smiled. Then her vision steered away, and her smile disappeared. She looked over my shoulder (even though she's tiny, she's got 20-20 vision) and noticed Allison walking in the lunchroom. She turned back around and just stood there, tapping her foot on the ground.  She looked around, everywhere except in my direction.

"You okay?" I asked.

"Don't... okay. Just don't."

"Don't what?"

"Never mind. Just leave me alone."

"But I don't want to. What's wrong?" I replied, concerned. I have no idea what's happening, her mood just... shifted.

She looked at me, her eyes now burning with rage. She sent me a malicious smile and... kicked me in the shin.

"OW, MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL!" I screamed

She smiled that evil smile, and reminded me to leave her alone, again.

Screw me for being concerned with my friends.

As I was helplessly grabbing my leg to make sure my shin didn't disconnect from my body, Allison ran and joined us on the line. I didn't want her here, not now. But it looks like Katie doesn't want her here either.

~

That lying ass-hat is here. She ran all the way over here.

"Hi Kate, Hi Har" she greeted, ready to hug me

"Yeah, hi" I responded. The line moved and we all had to scoot away (of course, Harry was hopping on one foot like a freaking rabbit).

"Harry, what did you do?" Allison cooed, turning all of her attention to him.

"It's fine, Ka... I hurt my shin. My leg was just... in shock or whatever." He slowly relived the kick, and winced in pain, but stood on both legs when he finished the sentence.

"Well, quit being a klutz." she said suddenly, all nasty-like

The next few minutes were silent. We all got our pizzas, but when Harry and I got off the line we tried speed-walking away from her. Didn't work. (she's on the track team, and that's just not fair)

The four of us, me , Allison, Harry, and Greg ate in silence. Not one conversation sprouted in the midst of our silence. So silent. SO MUCH SILENCE.

~

Katie is acting weird. Harry's eating his pizza like a pig, geezus.

Greg still sits with us?

~

That lunch tray is so yellow. Like a banana. Or a lemon. My sandwich has cheese in it, and it's yellow, like a banana. Or a lemon. Oh my god, isn't the sun also yellow!?

~

This pizza tastes horrible. How is that ass-hat eating it? I'm gonna throw it out.

Why does my life seem like an unrealistic book? Even magic is more believable than what I'm going through.

~

They will NOT STOP LOOKING AT ME! Allison is staring at me, and Katie is staring at Allison, which is basically equivalent to her staring at me. It's simple math. I don't like math.

~

"Finally the bell!

It was super weird how we said that all at once, but I just want to leave. I don't need or want to talk to these people for the rest of forever. Maybe. I don't know when exactly, but I'm going to be antisocial now, so goodbye.
