"Well," Mal voiced, "what do you want to know?"
"Yeah, anything in particular?" Jay asked trying to get a response. Carlos had been sitting quietly with his head down for several moments and he was looking lost. He wouldn't keep his closest friend in the dark.
"Well, um..." Carlos began quietly, "can you tell me about each of you and maybe something we did together? It might help me remember things." he suggested glumly.
"Good idea." Harry reassured casting a warm smile upon Carlos. "Who wants to go first?"
"Oh. I will." the blue haired girl started. "I'm Evie and my mother is the Evil Queen, but I'm not evil don't worry. We've known each other since we were young and you're like a brother to me. Actually, I remember something about this dress I'm wearing... When we were younger I was so into fashion and beauty - after all it was all I was taught, along with cooking and cleaning and sewing - and I desired to come to Auradon and be a famous fashion designer. It was a Thursday evening and I was sewing together little scraps of fabric into a dress, or at least something that resembled one." she added with a little laugh.
It made Carlos smile a little as well.
"Anyways, I was doing it in secret, in our hideout, where we all used to go together to get away from our parents," she explained when Carlos looked lost, "and I was certain I was alone. I was afraid, see, I didn't think anyone would support me. I knew people would mock me for my dreams. But you showed up Carlos, and you told me it was a dream worth fighting for and that it would come true. You gave me hope Carlos and those scraps became part of the dress I'm wearing today. It brings back good memories."
She gently took one of Carlos' hands, which flinched slightly at the touch, and looked into his chocolate eyes with nothing but love.
"I will always be thankful for you Carlos."
He was stunned. It seemed so insignificant yet so important. He was glad the old Carlos was a good person; he hoped he would be able to get back to that person and discover more about him.
"Thankyou."
And he was grateful. It was a start to returning his memories.
"Well, I'll go next I guess. Sup Carlos, I'm Jay, son of Jafar, and we've been best friends for years. We always play fight but we trust each other with our lives. I remember, when I was about twelve and you were around eleven, we were running through the town centre away from a group of thugs. I was for the first time scared we were in danger. I had never gotten in trouble with older people before. But you were there with a confident smirk and a plan. You helped us escape through back alleys and empty buildings all whilst reassuring me we would be okay. And we were. For the first time I felt I had found someone I knew I could trust and I promised to protect you as much as I could. But I guess that didn't turn out well did it?" he ended in a mumble.
"So I'm smart, huh?" he asked.
"Very." everyone agreed. "You're a genius." Evie confirmed with a smile.
It gave Carlos hope that he was someone good, important and worth fighting for.
He was going to try his best to get his past back.
