A/N: These are my dnd characters. I ended up shipping them like the bitch I am. Kindle is a fire genasi and Meiko is a high-elf. I love them.

Kindle awoke a strange chill run up her spine. Feeling around her she realized that Meiko wasn't laying next to her. She sat up and saw candlelight in the bathroom. Straining her ears, she heard her voice.

"Ha.. haah... Mmmmm!" There was muffled sobbing coming from inside. Kindle quietly slipped out of bed. She approached the room and peered in. Meiko was on the floor. She was holding her right leg. Golden blood was gently dripping down her leg and it was staining the floor. A glowing star-shaped wound on her leg was the source of the blood and her sobs struck a chord in Kindle's heart.

"Meiko?" Kindle kneeled next to her. Meiko's head shot up and a loud gasp escaped her mouth.

"Kindle! I-" Meiko looked at her with fearful eyes. Kindle shushed her and inspected the wound. She noticed it before when she had first met her but she thought it was closed, healed. The golden blood was staining her hands as she traced the outside. Meiko let out a smothered cry. Kindle flinched and retracted her arm.

"Meiko. What is this?" Kindle looked at her eyes. The golden flecks looked dull. Meiko looked away. Kindle grabbed her chin and looked her in the eyes again. "Meiko, tell me." More tears fell down her face before she took a deep breath.

"When I was younger my parents... did this." That was all she could manage before she choked out a sob. Kindle stared at the glowing wound. "Aren't you like 60? How old were you?"

    "I was 29 and I'm currently 63."

"That was... 34 years ago! How is this wound still open?!" Kindle raised her voice out of confusion and a bit of frustration. She quickly backtracked when she saw Meiko flinch and shrink away. "Oh, Love, I'm sorry." Kindle pulled Meiko into her lap and into a gentle embrace. Meiko held her arm and cried into it. She took a moment to relax before she talked again.

"They cut the star into my leg when they overheard me tell a friend that I wished to run away. They cursed it so that it would bleed when it inconvenienced me the most. When I ran away that night, it bled like there was no tomorrow. It was the worst pain of my life but I kept running. That night when the moon goddess blessed me not only did she change my appearance, she lessened the curse as best as she could. It just bleeds at random now but it still hurts like hell." Meiko huddled close to Kindle. She let her head rest on her chest.  Kindle felt herself heat up and it wasn't long before her hair brightly glowed. Meiko looked at her hair curiously. She reached her hand out towards it.

"Woah, Meiko don't touch. It may be my hair but it's still fire." Kindle gently grabbed her hand and lead it away.

"Oh, sorry." Meiko kept her hand in Kindles. She let out a soft sigh. "I think you're amazing Kindle. You're like... super strong and you can do this cool stuff with magic." Meiko looked deep into Kindle's eye. "I've known you for like what... 3 months and you've proved to me time and time again that you're super cool." Meiko snuggled closer to her and Kindle held her back. The pain from her leg was overpowered by the warmth in her heart. She never wanted to leave Kindle's arms.

"Um... Meiko, your wound stopped glowing." Kindle let go of Meiko and positioned her to a better position. Meiko looked at her wound. It was closing as the last of the blood dripped down. Meiko sighed and leaned back into Kindle.

    "It's over, for now."
