A/N: Spirit, Malachi, and the mystery woman are my ocs (not dnd related). They're from my stories and this is a little piece of it that actually written.
'The willow forest by the ocean.'
Those were the only two words on the small note she left on her desk. She wasn't around either so it was only safe to assume she went there. Malachi was supposed to visit that day too. When Malachi found the note he assumed that was where they were going to meet. Of course, he found it strange that for a discussion about their lands well being Spirit would choose Willow forest of all places. Yet at the same time, it was Spirit. He decided to head there alone. He knew that if she chooses a quiet place she didn't want there to be much fussing over papers but he did bring a bag carrying folders.
He made his way there thinking of what they would discuss. The day was starting to end as the sun began to set. There had been recent sightings of Cluds near both the borders of their lands and sending somebody to investigate it is something he wished to discuss. As he made his way there he saw a woman standing in the distance. She was tall, dark-skinned, and her hair, reaching down to her ankles, resembled a sunset on the outside but the inside looked like the night sky. Her elven ears were pierced. She was taller than him and her clothing exposed most of her body. A wrap on her breasts is all that covered them and her skirts were split in two and different colors. Her piercing blue eyes were staring dead into Malachi. She radiated godlike energy. Malachi got closer he called out to the woman but she didn't answer. She turned around and began walking deeper into the forest.
"Excuse me? Hey... where are you going?" Malachi picked up his place and tried to catch up with her but she seemed to disappear into the forest. "Hello? Excuse me!? Where did you go?" He searched around but didn't see any sign of her. After more searching, he spotted her long sunset hair in the distance. "Hello? Are you alright? Do you need help?" As he got closer he heard her say something.
"She's going to die." Her voice was deep and powerful. Malachi felt like he had misheard her.
"W-what did you say?" She didn't respond instead she started to walk. "What do you mean she's going to die?!" Malachi tried to grab her arm but his hand practically phased through her.
"You cannot grab me, child. I no longer reside in this existence. Now, hurry." She began running which made Malachi realize she didn't kick up any leaves but her skirts and hair swayed with the wind. He began to chase after her and as he did he saw her form warp into Spirit. The change in form caught him off guard. He stopped dead in his tracks. When he stopped, she did too. She turned around to look at him. Every part of her looked like Spirit. She had Spirits long lavender hair, her heterochromatic eyes, her style of dress, and her voice.
"Please, save me, Malachi." Her face was blank. "Are you going to let me die?" Malachi stared in disbelief. "Why haven't you noticed, Malachi?" Suddenly, all these voices echoed from her. "Malachi, How many signs have I given you?" They were all Spirit's. "Maybe, you just don't care." The voices were all so powerful. "I've been trying to tell you for so long." Malachi fell to his knees covering his ears. "I'm sorry but I can't this vicious cycle going." He heard the mystery woman's voice amongst it all.
"Do you hear how she needed you?" The voices were starting to quiet down. She saw the woman's feet approaching her. She made no noise. She knelt before him. "Redeem yourself, Malachi Eclyde, save her from herself." With that, she took off. Malachi looked up at her. She was running further and further away. Spirit's lavender hair was fading into the setting sun. Looking at her he realized that they were near a cliff. He could hear the ocean waves crashing into the rock and he started to feel the cold winds it gave off. He pushed himself off the ground and started to run in the direction she ran. The sun was getting brighter in his eyes. It was clouding his vision. He didn't exactly know what she was talking about but the worry in him grew. When he made it to a clearing on the cliff he saw the mystery woman sitting next to the body of Spirit which was slumped against a large willow. She had returned to her first form. "Save her from herself, Malachi." With her final words spoken, she touched Spirit's head and faded into mist. Where she was sitting was a pill bottle. Malachi was left staring at the body of Spirit.
The waves went quiet. The wind called down but a coldness grew inside Malachi. He spotted a pill bottle on the ground. He kneeled down in front of Spirit's body and looked over at the pill bottle. It was still capped. He picked it up and read its label. He felt his heart drop when he realized what they were. Just 3 of these could kill you and here was half a bottle next to Spirit. He dropped them, turning to Spirit. Grabbing Spirit's shoulders, he began to shake her. He was crying her name and tears were starting to spill over. He almost gave up on her when he saw her eyes start to slowly open. He almost screamed when he heard her voice.
"Malachi?"
