++ Now barely awake you lazily made yourself a cup of coffee and sat at your dining room table. You dropped in a sugar cube and poured your cream into the delicious aroma as you munched on some toast. After your exciting day yesterday, you could barely contain yourself from blabbering to the man on the other end although you did manage to get a few hours of sleep after cleaning up your home. Now you were getting ready to head back out onto the shoreline right in from of your house before the sun set.++

You brought the shell along with you, but you could not bring yourself to press it to your ear and hear the smooth suave voice of the man on the other end again. Although he said he would wait for you, you felt he would not be there and it was all in your mind...

That this was all a hallucination.

As you threw out your towel and stuck the umbrella in it's designated spot, you could see the waves coming up the shore still as gentle at ever. Calming your worries just enough for you to sit down and press the conch shell to your ear.

Still you heard the gentle crashes of the waves echoing in the shell, but as soon as you whispered a soft hello you now knew you were not going insane...

"I waited all night and all day to hear your voice. What took you so long?"

"Hehe... It was not even that long of a wait. What did you do while you waited?"

It was silent for a bit, as if contemplating whether or not to tell you, but he responded in a timely matter:

"Well I did my normal work out and meditation... Then waited for you with this stupid shell pressed to my ear, and you?

"Well Hisoka, I do have a life outside of this shell you know?"

You could hear Hisoka huff in annoyance, but it appeared it even surprised himself as his words got caught in his throat before he got the chance to speak. He gently cleared his throat apologizing for the sounds:

"Ahem... Ah sorry about that... I just really missed hearing your voice and I did not know how to say it without sounding needy, but in retrospect I suppose this confession is quite redundant."

"You... M-missed hearing my voice?"

You could hear his smile go ear to ear as he spoke, he firm dominance was clear but he also held that gentle tone with you.

"Yeah, yeah I did. You are just so down to earth compared to me, I am so high off the ground I am one hundred percent sure the stars will grow jealous."

He paused for a moment to listen to your enticingly contagious laugh, enjoying the pure and sweet moment between the two of you. Although you could be a million miles or even galaxies apart from him, he would do anything to be in your presence to hear you laugh and much more...

Hisoka was beginning to realize he was starting to fall further down the rabbit hole and quickly reigned himself in:

"Sorry... I must have overstep my boundaries with that, but I will have to get going in a little bit for uh... Work. When can we talk again?"

You were still astounded by Hisoka's unexpected confession, of really missing your conversation, and you muffled the random sounds you were making as you tried to collect yourself:

"Umm... Mmhmphh... Well how about in three hours we lay down in bed and tell the other three things about ourselves, does that sound fun?"

Hisoka chuckled:

"You make me wait ALL day so I can wait three more hours and then only find out THREE things about you? Is there like a speed round I can do? I want to know more than that..."

"That is the point Hisoka, the waiting builds the suspense of our secrets! Do you have any secrets Hisoka? Hmmm?"

Hisoka, although was thoroughly enjoying the way you said his name so enticingly, sat up from his relaxed position on the window sill and became worried, what if you did not like the real him?

Hisoka clammed up for a moment, unsure of what to say, he shook his head he had to keep up:

"Heh... But of course I do my dear (Y/n), do you not?"

You thought about it for a moment, you indeed had a few secrets on your back burners but could he handle those secrets? You perked up and decided to tell him the truth:

"Yeah I do. Some personal stuff, would you still want to know something so boring?"

"Nothing is boring with you, I want to know everything. Good or bad I do not care, if it's you... I want to know."

Hisoka slapped his hand to his mouth, what was he saying? Had one day of simply asking how someone's day was completely change himself?

It was not that he did not feel that way, it was just that he would never openly blurt it out like that... He felt like he was under a sirens call or an open book for her eyes to behold his truths. Hisoka cleared his throat just before he spoke:

"Well... I have to get going for that work errand but I will be back with this shell on my ear in three hours to hear any three things you want to tell me when I in turn tell you three things about myself for you to know. Sound good?"

You laughed lightly agreeing multiple times, you were happy, truly happy that you know this man now. You cared not for the looks, but you wanted to see his true self...

"Yes Hisoka, that sounds absolutely perfect. I can not wait."

You meant it sincerely and you hoped this was a good start for your friendship.

"Good bye for now (Y/n)."

"Good bye H-Hisoka..."

You placed the shell down at your side and laid flat for a moment, staring at nothing but the umbrella above you. In  complete silence worth the waves drowning out your thoughts.

While Hisoka placed the shell in his pouch, clutching it tightly within his grasp for a moment. His chest hurt for a moment when he thought about losing the one thing keeping him partially sane, but immediately pushed it to the back of his mind because he knew all he had to do was not get touched.

Easy.
