I glanced out of the car window, observing the new surroundings of this huge town. I was awestruck by its giant size. I wasn't used to any town the size of Atlanta, or even anything close to it. I came from a foster home in a small town in Alabama. Honestly, I don't remember the name of the town. It wasn't very important to me, considering I was there for something so stupid. This is a big day for me.
I've been in that foster home since I was about 3, and I'm 15 now. My parents apparently didn't have the money to take care of me, so they sent me there.
A family adopted me very recently that was from Atlanta, Georgia, and they happened to be in the area. I'm still bit sure what their names are though. They never told me. I'm really scared though because I'm not sure how they're going to be; Are they going to be like my parents, or will they actually try to care for me?
We pulled up to a brick house on a street named Pristine Drive. The houses weren't very clean though, so I don't know why they gave the street that name. The home we pulled up to had to be the cleanest on the block.
The man who was driving turned into the driveway and shut off the car's engine.
"Well, this is going to be where you live from now on, Samantha!" he said with a smile on his face. "Also, we never introduced ourselves. My names Jeff, and this is my wife Sarah. We have a son as well. His name is Preston."
"Okay," I responded with a very nervous tone. As you can probably tell, I'm not the most outgoing person. I'm actually really shy when it comes to new people.
I stepped out of the car and cautiously followed Jeff and Sarah to the door. I was looking around as if something was going to jump out of nowhere.
They unlocked the door and they walked in. Jeff gave me a gesture of his hands as if he was welcoming me into the house, so I stepped in. I slipped my black Converse off and put them by the pile of shoes by the door. All of the shoes there looked like they could've costed $50 each pair.
"So this is our home, and you're now a part of it!" exclaimed Sarah with a smile swept across her face.
A boy that looked to be about 17 came running down the stairs. He had the most gorgeous green eyes and blonde hair I have EVER seen. He was about 5'10" and absolutely perfect.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot! This is your new brother, Preston," Jeff said.
Wait, he's my brother? Oops.
"Hey, Samantha!" Preston greeted me.
"You guys can all just call me Sammy if you want. It's a lot easier," I pointed out with a sarcastic tone.
They all nodded in acknowledgement. I'm still not sure about this family yet.
I glanced around the living room and saw that there was a piece of wood hanging on the wall. Carved in it was "Smith."
That must be their last name.
Preston looked at me. "I can show you your room, follow me."
He ran up the stairs, so I followed him. He opened the last door on the right and walked in.
"Well here it is. I know it's not much, but it'll have to do."
I just stood there and stared at it. It was perfect! There was a green and blue comforter on the bed, and the walls were green and blue checkered. There was a blue and green bullseye rug, and a wooden nightstand. There were Fall Out Boy posters all over. And how could I forget to mention, a 50" television mounted on the wall with several gaming systems. Also, there was a bathroom hooked on the my room!
I think I'm gonna like living here.
"Not much?! This is amazing!" I exclaimed, losing my cool and wrapping Preston in a hug.
He hugged me back and smiled. "I knew you'd like it! I designed it myself. My parents got the paper you filled out with your favorite things on it and gave it to me."
I grinned from ear to ear. "Thanks."
"No problem, sis."
