Jennie
If you receive this message, probably because you are invited to my party! I smile at Seulgi's message.
A few days from now, I'll be turning 25, so come celebrate with me, okay? Don't forget to bring swimwear and clothes good for a week, Jen! The event will happen at my resort on Jeju Island. See you there!'
I almost forgot about her birthday. I think I should start choosing a gift for her.
Maybe a bear? A human-sized bear or a costume? I think I should buy a rabbit for Irene.
I chuckle as I put my phone down. I huff on my hot coffee and drink it.
I'm sitting on the corner of a certain coffee shop where I can see the beautiful street in Seoul. It's my favorite view in my favorite seat and in my favorite coffee shop.
This place is so special to me. A lot of memories remind me.
A lot of memories of us. My friends, and of course, her.
Three years have passed since our breakup. Three years, and I am still stuck in the past. I feel like it only happened yesterday. The memories were still fresh.
I still remember how it felt like to be broken into pieces while she accused me of being a cheater. I only laugh at the thought, but I can't deny the pain that's still lingering.
I'm back to my senses when I hear my phone ring. I look at the screen and it's Irene calling. I answer.
"Hey, Irene."
"[Hey, Jen! I'm almost there. I just got in and- Ah! There you are!]" I saw her waving at the entrance as I peek and wave back.
She's still beautiful with that black shirt and faded jeans. She runs towards me while I rise to hug her.
"I miss you so much, Jennie!" She squeals as our hug tightens.
I've lost count on the months we hadn't seen each other. Ever since Lisa and I broke up, the group start to fall apart, became distant from each other. Despite that, we graduated and need to part ways.
Now that we're adults, we're so busy with work and couldn't even give each other a day to spend time with. I'm really excited to see everyone again. Irene pulls back and calls the barista to order.
"Jen!" She holds my hand with excitement and squeezes my hands.
"Yes?"
"I have news for you! But, um, I don't know if it's a good one for you or not." She smiles sheepishly until her order arrives.
"What is it, Irene?"
She thanks the barista and takes a sip of her coffee. She holds my hands again and squeezes them so tight. I guess she's so thrilled with whatever that is, and I can't help but smile.
"Lisa and Chaeyoung are back from Australia!" My smile fades, processing the news as I nod.
"Ah." was the only thing I said as I lean on the brown leather couch's backrest. She grabs her cup and drinks her coffee again.
"Mmm! And also, I heard from my Seulgi babe that they are..." She's hesitating to say it as she bites her lips.
"They are?" I wait for her to answer. She takes a deep breath before facing me.
"They're... They're getting married, Jen."
"Ah." Was the only thing I said, again. I take my coffee and drink it.
