What the hell was he?

Either way, she had to snap out of it and think about it later. As his grip tightened on her throat she closed her eyes, getting back to severing the connection.

"What? Already giving up My Queen? I thought it would be funnier..." She let him talk as she wrapped her ghost hands on the slim thread and pulled.

Hard.

Almost there.
It was thinning, she just needed to pull while pushing a little more with her magic.

Alec started screaming, his grip loosening as she felt herself slumping on the floor. But she had to go on. If she let go, it would be the same all over again. She couldn't risk this opportunity. With one final pull the line snapped.

Another explosion. A hundred times worse than the first one.

This time she collapsed. Her world went black.

-------

Her eyes opened again. An angry headache was forming at the back of her head as she slowly stood up.
Straining herself she crawled to King Alec, who layed unmoving on the floor in front of her.

Something wet was running down nose.

It was bleeding.

She wiped at it and reached her hand to feel his pulse.
Faint, but he would be alright.

She concentrated again on that line, just to make sure it had been broken. But what she saw had her falling back on her butt.
How could it be possible?

"Fucking Hell." She muttered. The King had some explaining to do.

She navigated through his mind. Just to make sure that everything was in its place before pulling out.

She looked down at him. He was still unconscious.

Just now she seemed to realize that he was completely naked except for his briefs. And she was no better. In her short see through night gown - well now it was all bloody - she was a sight to be seen.

But modesty had never been in her vocabulary. It was a weakness. She didn't need one.

Sighing, she carried him - yes carried. She was not a human after all. - to her bed and sent a telepathic message to one of her healers stationed outside the palace.

Nobody had stayed overnight under her request.
In dangerous times such as now she wouldn't risk their life. She was the only one who could match this kind of power after all. Having them rushing to protect her, would not only waste her resources but also risk her being distracted.

A knock sounded at her door and she turned around to see Robert scanning his sorrounding and taking in a sharp breath.
Some parts of her walls were missing, her desk was shattered and blood was splattered all over.

Her blood.

Her healer rushed to her, glowing hands raised ready to cure, but she shook her head.

"I am quite alright, Robert. See to him first, please." Taking a step back, she left room for him to work his wonders.
The man was damn good at what he did and she trusted him with her life. He was one of the few people in her reign that possessed light magic and he didn't seem to be bothered by it. She had once asked him if he desired to leave her kingdom - she would have asked Alec to take him in as one of his. But the healer had only smiled. His hands gripping hers as he said "There is only one queen for me. And that is Athena the Dark. I shall not be bothered by the darkest magic as I see the brightest light in your heart."
