charli's pov

parties are really not my thing, i'd rather stay at home, eat chips and watch netflix all day long than attend one. heck, i barely even know anyone at tahani's birthday party, of course besides her and kaycee, speaking of kaycee, where could she be?

damnit, there i am again, thinking about her. i'm not the best at socialising, like literally, i even get nervous when ordering food at restaurants. anyways, i sat down on a beanie i found outside, while eating the food i grabbed.

i was too caught up eating my food, that i didn't even realise, kaycee was at the far right of me, playing with bailey and sean. it looked like they had fun, though kaycee was serious at times, probably trying to win cards, she still looked like she was having the time of her life with her friends.

she has this laugh, a very genuine one, where in you could tell what's in her heart, full of kindness, joy and gratitude.

there's really something fascinating and interesting about her, i just can't seem to understand why or what. i probably looked at her way too long, because she caught on to my staring and gave me a warm smile.

fuck. i hope she doesn't think i'm creepy, or even worse, thinking i'm stalking her. i quickly face the other way and pretend that i was just eating my food, bad move charli, i regretted staring at kaycee for such a long period of time, but honestly, i couldn't stop myself.

i was eating my burger, when suddenly, someone tapped me on the shoulder, "is everything alright?" i turn to face who it was— it was kaycee.

"y—yeah of course, i'm just not a party person." i stuttered, i don't know why my heart was beating so fast at that moment. "same, i'm just lucky my friends are here to keep me company." she sat beside me, this is not a drill, the kaycee rice just sat beside me.

at this point, my heart probably already wanted to explode, but just couldn't. "sorry for not accompanying you, i should be doing that, cause i'm the one who invited you." she apologised to me, she was so cute. "n—no, it's okay, i actually like to be alone at public places like this, it keeps me calm." i explained.

she smiled, knowing i understood why she wasn't able to accompany me. "so anyways, while we're here, why don't we... get to know more about each other? if you want, i could go first." she gave me that not-so-sure gaze, she probably felt awkward, like me.

"yeah that sounds great! you can go first." i smilingly agreed. she took a deep breath before telling me about herself, "so i'm kaycee rice, 15 years old and not only am i a dancer, but i also love acting and music, even though i'm the worst at singing. my middle name is caitlin, i know, it's a weird middle name. i started dancing when i was 4 and a half years old, and i'm a self proclaimed weirdo. i have 2 siblings and i'm the youngest. my sister's name is Kylie and my brother's name is Devon, and yeah, that's basically it." let me tell you, i didn't breath until she was done, i was that curious about her life.

"awww, caitlin is a cute middle name." i teased her a little bit, but i still managed to get out a chuckle from her. "i'm excited to know more about you." i could tell she was excited, so i didn't waste any time and went straight ahead to telling her more about me, "alright, my name is charli d'amelio, i'm 16 years old and i love burgers. i'm a dancer and i also love photography. i only have one sibling and her name is Dixie, she's older and better than me so uhm.. yeah that's basically it." phew, that made me out of breath.

"ooooh, why don't you introduce me to your sister sometime, i would love to meet her." i don't know why, but for some reason, her wanting to meet my sister got me smiling from ear to ear, maybe because she's special to me. "for sure, i'm sure she'd also be happy to meet you."

"so uhm— can i ask for your numb—" i was about to ask kaycee for her phone number, but then her phone started to ring. "oh gosh, it's my dad, he probably is already waiting outside the parking lot to pick me up." seeing kaycee's worried expression, i could tell how much love she has for her parents and not wanting them to worry for her.

"it's okay, i'll see you around? i'll also get going, my sister is already probably at the hotel waiting for me too." i assured her that it was okay for her to leave already. she went to bailey and sean, and bid her goodbye to them, by that time as well, she has finished talking to her dad.

before going out the door, she smiled at me, "bye charli, i'll see you around." i stupidly watched her smiling and opening the door, that i totally forgot to say goodbye to her, but who can blame me? her smile makes rainbows.

"kayc—" it was too late to ask her if she wanted to walk outside together, knowing it was already dark out and the parking lot was a little far from tahani's place, she had already got out the door.
