Chapter 3

Meeting the Russians

After checking three other properties we pull up to one of the last ones. I get an eerie feeling when I get out of the car. I follow Joyce and Hopper. Hopper pulls his gun out and we follow the routine we have in the last few houses. Hopper and I clear the building and as we search for anything, while I also listen for anything.

When we enter one of the bedrooms I can hear a humming sound. "Shhh. I hear something" I crouch down and put my ear on the floor and Joyce follows suit. I listen for a few seconds and the humming turns into a loud clanking sound."There's something underneath us. I don't know what it is."

We all look through the room and Joyce finds a light under the bed. Hopper and I lift it up revealing a staircase leading down. I follow hopper and Joyce with an uneasy feeling.

When we reach the bottom we're met with a big room. I can hear mumbling. It sounds like someone talking. "That way" I point towards where the voices are coming from. We walk a little ways further into the room and are met with two men.

One is wearing khakis and a white shirt. Another is wearing a black jumpsuit. Honestly the one with the khakis is kinda cute looking. But I would never admit it out loud.

Hopper yells, "put your hands up!" The two me look at each other and say something in another language. Hopper raises his gun and repeats himself.

I hear footsteps above us. Tensing up I feel electricity spark on my fingertips. I walk over to Hopper,"Hey, someone is here. I can hear footsteps."

Hopper then takes out his handcuffs and puts one on the cute looking guy and the other one on me. "Go hide over there. Don't do anything unless I tell you to." I take Joyce and the man and hide. Hopper then ties up guy in the jumpsuit.

Soon a huge guy comes in and starts fighting Hopper. In the struggle hoppers gun flies out of his hand and skids across the ground towards us. Joyce grabs the gun and throws it back towards Hopper. But it misses and lands closer to the other guy.

Looking for a way to help I look towards the giant machine they were working on when we came in. Stretching my hand out towards it I feel the electricity pulse through my body. I aim for the machine and hit it directly. It causes the lights to go out.

Hopper yells, "Go!Go!Go!" I grab the man and drag him up the stairs along with me. Joyce and Hopper follow and we all run towards the car. Hopper tosses the keys toward Joyce and she drops them on the ground.

We wait in the car for Joyce as she fumbles with the keys. Hopper yells, "Come on Joyce. Start the car!"

The car makes a crackling noise and finally starts. Joyce slams her foot on the gas and we speed out of the driveway. The man hopper was fighting starts shooting at us again and we all duck down.

I sit up and extend my hand toward him shooting a pulse of electricity towards him. Unfortunately I miss and it hits the window next to him. The man handcuffed to me looks at me with wide eye. He's probably never seen anything like me.

I start to get light headed. I hear ringing in my ears. Between the arguing from Joyce and Hopper, the yelling from the now hostage, and the gun shots it was all too loud. I try covering my ears and end up pulling on the hostages arm.

I end up leaning over to cover my ears and just wait until everything quiets down. While waiting for everything to calm down I start to drift off to sleep.
