"Hey!" My boyfriend's voice boomed throughout the house. I cringed backward in frieght before hearing his shoes slam into the stairs.
"I'm sorry!" I pleaded, but I knew that wouldn't change things. His stomps grew louder as he neared the end of the staircase to meet me. With every clamp on the wooden tile, my heart pounded harder into my chest.
"Where do you think you're going without a coat?!" He yelled. I stepped backward, blumping into the wall. There was no where for me to go, he was blocking my only way out.
His shadow engulfed me as he neared my body slowly; his facial features blended into the dark corner. I attempted to look into his eyes, but they seemed to disappear within the dark loom. That is, until I saw those stars.
"I told you, I don't want you getting sick!" He scolded. I weakly smiled, I suddenly felt unloving, as if I didn't have the capacity to love Jaemin as much as he loves me.
"Oh, baby, did I scare you?" He asked, cupping my cheeks.
"No," I simply said before attempting to walk away. I was on the verge of tears and if he saw me cry, he would relentlessly beat himself up for it.
"No, stop. Talk to me, I didn't mean to scare you at all. Oh! I'm so sorry! Ar-"
"Jaemin, I'm fine. I just want to go for a walk," i said. He allowed his hands to fall limp as I passed around him. My chest ached with every step; however, I knew I needed to be alone. I needed a moment to breathe and tell myself I don't need to be better, I need to be me.
"I'm sorry," he weakly said as he turned to go back upstairs. Though faint, I heard a crack at the end of his words. He genuinely thought he scared me.
"Nana," I called, turning around to face him.
"You didn't scare me. You never could. I just need time alone, I don't like where my head is going." He nodded, a tear welling dangerously at the edge of his eyelid. He quickly turned, hiding the droplet from me.
"Be safe, don't walk too far away, please. I'll start making dinner in a second," he said. I nodded as I watched him run up the stairs only to vanish behind the door to our bedroom.

I arrived home after 15 minutes of walking to the smell of my mother's ramen. A wave of childish play ran through my veins momentarily as I soaked in the nostalgic smell.
Upon opening the door quietly, I saw Jaemin tossing eggs on the stove with a steaming pot beside him.
"Nana, I'm back!" I said above the sizzle of the delicious foods. He perked up before spinning around quickly to face me.
"How do you feel?"
"Pretty good. Did you enjoy your quiet time?" I asked, hanging my coat on the hangar Jaemin made last year for the winter time.
"Sort of. I spent about half of it cooking."
"I can see! Where did you find my mother's recipie?" I walked into the kitchen to stand beside him.
"She gave it to me. I told her you weren't feeling well and she recommended I make you this." He explained. I smiled as I peered down at my shoes. Wondering what I should say next, I let a silence remain among us.
"Thank you. I'm sorry for earlier, I know you were having fun, and I wasn't scared. It was something else. I want to talk about it over dinner." He nodded, uncrossing his arms to press me into his chest.
"I'm sorry for not giving you your space," he apologized. I chuckled.
"There's nothing for you to be sorry about. You're perfect, Nana," I stated. He weakly chuckled, not believing me.
"Never think otherwise and never let anyone make you think you aren't." I pulled away from the hug to look him in the eyes.
"I'll try," he smiled. I nodded, it was a start that he would consider my words every time he was down.
"How about you take a seat and I'll serve you, my princess," he glided his hand through my silky hair before returning to the food.
•••
I sat slumped over the table across from Jaemin. I felt as if I were to explode but fall asleep at the same time.
"You okay?" Jaemin asked. I smiled.
"I feel amazing, to be honest," I confessed. A wide grin spread across his face.
"I want you to feel that way every single day." He grabbed my hand.
"Nana," I said before taking a deep breath.
"Yes?"
"Marry me?"
