Jake and Charles walked out of the elevator, coffee in hand chatting about their drug case. "wait whats this?" Jake says as the two walk over to the other detectives who were crowding over Gina's desk.
"theres an active shooter in Brooklyn heights hotel, were getting intel about the situation" Holt says as everyone stares at the walkie talkie on the desk, awaiting more information
"multiple casualties, ESU is en route and nearby officers are responding to the scene right now" Terry adds before looking down at the walkie talkie on the desk.
"we have people running, advising six or seven shots fired. Numerous civilians coming this way" a Womens voice was heard on the radio.
"Warwick, 9238 show me going" she says.
"9238 I have you going" a male's voice replies.
"hilbert, 9835 show me going" the same Womens voice was heard again.
"9835 I have you going" another male voice replies.
"What are they saying?" Gina asks as she looks up to the Captain.
"'show me going' and their badge number, they're letting dispatch know they're close by and there responding" he replies.
"Y/N , 3118, show me going" Y/N's voice was heard on the radio. Everyone's head shot up and they immediately looked at Jake, her boyfriend.
"no, she cant be there" Jake shakes his head as he tries to convince himself it was another officer.
"thats her badge number Jake, its her" Terry replies.
"where are you going?" Holt asks as Jake hurries over to his desk and grabs his jacket.
"we have to do something, we cant just let her be there alone" he says, trying desperately to hold back tears.
"Peralta, you cant go there and you know it. go take a deep breathe on the roof, we'll update you" he says as he offers a comforting hand. Jake sighs and walks off to the roof, stumbling slightly as his vision blurs.
Jake paces back and forth on the snowy roof, he doesn't even care that the snowflakes are slowly freezing his fingers together, he doesn't care if his face is getting red, he doesn't care about any of that, he just wants Y/N in his arms, safe and sound.
"Jake, we have an update" Terry shouts from Gina's desk. Jake turns on his heel and sprints back to Gina's desk, the most exercise he's had in years.
"so there's limited information about the situation in Brooklyn heights but I did manage to speak to a captain at the Nine-seven who offered an update" holt begins as he reads his clip board.
"two, possibly three shooters, three are dead and multiple wounded, all civilians" he says and directs the last part at Jake.
The entire squad takes a deep breathe at the same time. "she's okay, she's okay" Jake whispered to himself, reassuring his mind that she is not harmed in any way.
"we still have to go down there, she needs help!" Jake begs the captain who shakes his head in response.
"No, we cannot. The nine-seven is locking down the area and they wanted us to remain on high alert but not to respond".
Jake sighs and walks back to his desk. He slumps down in his chair and puts his head in his hands. A strong hand falls onto his shoulder as he feels the presence of someone behind him. He looks up to see Rosa.
"hey man, i'm not really a touchy feely kind of girl but I can tell you need this. She'll be alright, she's a badass. She took down an entire drug ring by herself in a couple of months. She's smart, she's sensible, she'll find a way out.. I promise you" she tells him, he smiles at her and props his head back down onto his arms once she walks away.
After two hours of anxiously sitting around waiting for updates, the walkie talkie turns on again and the womens voice is back.
"three officers down, we need urgent medical attention at the third floor". everyone's heart sinks to their stomachs again as they speculate weather it will be Y/N or not.
"we have to do something, I cant sit here while my girlfriend is in an active shooter situation, probably alone and without backup" Jake shouts.
"I know your worried, we all are. There's nothing we can do, we cannot risk flooding the hotel with more officers" The captain tells him, shooting him an understanding but cold glare.
About an hour later the dispatcher announced the wounded had been taken to the local hospital. "i'm going, I need to see If she's there or not" Jake says as he springs up and grabs his things, he walks over to the elevator and just before he gets to the gates the doors open. Jake stands there in shock as Y/N steps out of the elevator, she smiles at him and walks over to him.
Jake hugs her as tight as he can, he buries his head in the crook of her neck and smells her hair. "aww, were you worried about me?" she says with a chuckle as she pulls away. Jake looks down at her shirt and notices a fair amount of blood.
"what happened? are you okay?" he panics as he leads her to his desk.
"i'm fine Jake, Ive been shot before" she smiles before hugging everyone else on the squad.
"so, what happened? did you get them all?" Charles asks as they all circle around Jakes desk.
"we did, I took down two of them. There were at least 5 and they were all separated on Each floor, I was on the third floor where there were three shooters" She explains,
"I jumped in front of a kid who was trapped in the room I was in with her mother" she says, "thats how.. you know" she trails off and points to her shoulder.
"you're a hero" Amy says with a wide smile. Jake gently pulls her chair over to his and gives Her a soft kiss, they both smile into the kiss when out of the corner of their eye they see Charles fan girling.
