"ginaaa" Jake called as he walked over to the captains assistant's desk.

"yes Jake?" she replied, not looking up from her phone.

"I need a favour" he asks, pulling his chair over to her desk and sits down beside her. "can you please set me up with your friend Anna?" he asks, Gina rolls her eyes and groans. "please gina, she's really pretty and think we'd be great together!" Jake begged, Gina put her phone down and contemplated for a moment before answering.

"fine, we have dance rehearsals tonight, I won't be there but tell them I sent you for something I don't know, just make something up" she tells him, Jake squeals and rolls his chair back to his desk.

The day quickly came to an end and Jake was eager to get out of the precinct as fast as possible He grabbed his jacket and waltzed out of the precinct to his car. He put the keys in the ignition and drove the ten minute drive to Gina's dance studio, once he was outside he took a deep breath and readjusted his shirt collar before walking inside the building.

He eventually found the room when he heard music playing. He followed the sound of the song and found himself leaning against the door frame, watching Anna and three other girls dancing. The way she was dancing made his heart flutter, with the occasional hair flick or the strut of her walk towards the mirror.

After about a minute of him  standing around watching her dance the song ended and the girls split up and walked over to their things where they wiped their faces with towels. He sceptically walked over to Anna who was seated on a bench tying her long blonde hair into a messy bun.

"hey Jake, what are you doing here?" she asks with a wide smile as she stands up to reach his height. It was extremely hard to get words out, he was too focused on the way her collarbones were shining with sweat.

"oh, Gina said she left her jacket here the other day and she made me come here and get it for her" He explained, she laughed and walked over to the mirror where she retrieved Gina's jacket and handed it to him.

His heart hammered in his chest as he awkwardly fiddled with his hands, trying to work up the nerve to ask her on a date. Sure, he fantasised daily about how he was going to ask her out but now that they were less than a meter apart and she was looking back at him with shimmering eyes, his mind suddenly went blank and he had to search the very back of his brain to find the words.

"is there anything else?" she asked as she sat herself back down.

"uh, yeah... I was wondering" He started but trailed off as he scratched the back if his head. She smiled and reached into her bag where she pulled out a pen and paper, she scribbled something down and handed it over to him before grabbing her things and standing up.

"I would love to go out with you" She whispered as she placed a gentle hand on his bicep before she walked past him.

"how did you know?" He shouted as she got further away, she turned back and winked before she walked out of the room.

Jake grinned as he unravelled the scrunched piece of paper and saw the neatly written numbers next to her name. He clutched the paper tightly in his hand and walked out of the room, already planning their first date.

A/N: okay so if you were curious about what I imagine their dancing to be.

look up "bishop brigs "river" dance video by Monika Jarosz" on youtube, I imagine the song and the dance to be like the video.
