Chapter 2: True Colors

"Wow! Mads your song is great, look I'm kinda like Santa so why don't you tell me your dream, I mean your wish". Austin asks Maddy.

 Maddy replies in a soft and shy tone "Well, I really wanna sing out in the world and want to share my music with everyone".

Maddison invites Laura that day to meet Austin. Laura is about to enter the tent but Lia stops her and tells her in a rude and bitchy way "No evil steps allowed here, you'll ruin the merry and jolly part about this place." Laura looks at Maddy with disappointment all over her face. 

"Oh I..I, I invited her Lia so let her in". Maddy tells Lia with embarrassment running through her body.

"Since when were you friends with your steps Mads"? Lia asks to which Maddy replies "She is different, its actually Jen who's the Grinch". Laura ignores the whole conversation and looks at Austin. Maddy notices where Laura is concentrated and introduces both Austin and Laura to each other. 

"Oh! you're Austin, I've heard a lot about you from my sister". Laura tells Austin.

Maddison blushes while looking at Austin, Lia looks at Laura with jealousy written all over her face. Lia walks out and Maddison goes after her

"What's wrong Lia, is something wrong"? Maddy asks Lia in a very soft tone.

"Its just that I never thought that you'd be friends with anyone of your steps, but its fine the more the merrier". 

They both go back in the tent but as soon as they enter they find Laura and Austin laughing at a silly joke that Laura had just made and it wasn't even in any joke book. Mads new that Laura always made lame jokes and had her doubt of Austin liking Laura. Austin notices Maddy and stops laughing and gives her the same smirk but Mads sheds a few tears and runs away. Austin runs after her while Lia has a little chat with Laura

"I Know what you're up to, stay away from Austin or else". 

Laura rolls her eyes and passes an evil smile to Lia, at that point Lia tells Laura to leave and never show her face at Christmas land .

Austin comes back in the tent and asks Lia where Laura is going, Lia gives Austin a disappointed look and walks away.

Maddison is sitting on her bed staring at a gift her parents had given her when she was about eight years old .

As soon as Maddison finishes her song, Laura enters the room and stares at Mads.

"Look he told me that he is only into cute and pretty girls and you are not even close to being pretty". Laura taunts Maddy.

Diana comes in the room and tells Laura how proud she is of her, Laura looks back at Maddy and gives her the same evil look that she gave Lia. At the same time the door bell rings and the steps demand Maddy to go downstairs or else they will kick her out of the house. This time Laura has a guilty face but smiles as soon as her mother looks at her. Maddy starts sobbing and goes down to open the door, it was Austin without his costume.

"Wait you are Austin Wilde" Mads scoffs, "What are you doing here at my house"?

"Its me Austin, your Santa Austin". Austin explains "Wait why are you crying, Mads what happened"? Austin continues.

Maddison can't believe her eyes that the guy she has feelings for is Austin Wilde, the most famous teen actor. Knowing that her crush is Austin Wilde only confirms her doubt if he will ever like her and in her opinion he will never like her. Jenna comes down and screams 

"Oh my gosh its Austin Wilde at our doorstep, Mads don't you have any manners let him in". 

Maddison moves aside and goes back to her room, on her way she bumps into Laura and stammers "I'm sorry". 

Laura looks at Maddison feeling guilty and looks down and sees Austin Wilde sitting on the couch "Wait is that Austin Wilde"? Laura asks Maddy in a shock.

"Yeah, the same Austin I'm not worthy of and who you were flirting with earlier". Mads replies to Laura leaving her in more shock and walks away. Mads locks herself in her room and when she opens it late at night to go drink water she notices that Laura in sitting downstairs on the couch and crying, she goes down and sits next to Laura and asks what was wrong and Laura tells Mads that her mom is planning on attending Austin's family gala and try to marry his father by threatening him about something he did in the past when they were in high school. 

"What did Mr. Wilde do"? Mads asks Laura with curiosity.

"He promised her that he will not love anyone but her no matter what and when he found out that my mom was pregnant, he just disappeared and mom was forced to take abortion". Laura tells Mads still feeling guilty for what she had said earlier.

Maddison gets really curious and goes to her stepmothers library in search of something. Maddison finds a picture of Diana with Mr. Wilde hugging each other but she notices that Diana was holding the hand of a guy in the back and him smirking with a creepy look on his face. Then suddenly she hears footsteps coming towards the room and hides under the table. Diana enters the room mumbling "Oh Ty, you won't be able to get out of this". Maddy records everything she is said. "Once I frame to be a fraud, you will be forced to marry me and I will take all your money".

Diana leaves the room and so does Maddy making sure no one catches her. Maddy goes to her room and tells herself if she should tell Austin or not. That day Maddy saw her stepmother's true colors.
