Chapter 3

Lois goes down to the basement in hopes of finding her truant sister.
"Emily, Emily? Where are you?, we're about to start, argh, where is this girl"
She took her phone and called Emily, It was another dead end, since Emily wasn't picking. At first Lois thought it was just Emily being her rebellious self, but after sometime the thought of worry started to linger in her head. Emily was not one to take heed with the rules but she was cautious by nature, she knew better than to get lost in the woods at night.
"Hey, what are you doing here, the party's inside, you know?" Stacy said as she saw Lois on the balcony staring into the infinite black of the night.
"I know I'm just worried about Emily"
"Why what happened to her?"
"She left when we got here to go get a drink but now she's not answering my calls"
Stacy chuckled at Lois worrying
"Is that why you're worried?, hasn't Emily been pulling stunts like these since 6th grade?" She asked
"I know but its late and we're in the middle of nowhere, what if something happened?"
"Hey, stop worrying, don't ruin your night, come one let's go inside"Stacy said, calming  Lois' troubled mind
Stacy and Lois walked to the dinning table where the lot of their friends were, Lois upon seeing How happy her friends were decided to swallow her worry and not ruin the night for everyone. "You know what would make this might even more fun? A trip down memory lane, let's remember the good times" Esther said
"Like how you stole my boyfriend in high school?" Emmanuelle said like she had some grudge with Esther
"hey, do you remember the time, Alice thrashed Mr Wellbeck's car just because she got B in maths" Esther said just to avoid the awkward situation.
"In my defense, I was going through a lot that day and that man really annoyed me"
"Naa, girl, you had problems, what's so bad about getting a B" Charlotte asked
"Well unlike you, I'm not used to being a Bimbo"
"EXCUSE ME" Charlotte replied annoyed by the Alice's statement
Gwen Walter chuckled
"I'm sorry, you think its funny?, Why don't we talk about how Karen made out with your boyfriend in college" Charlotte replied annoyed at Gwen's giggle  at Alice's statement
All heads turned to Karen when the statement was made, she tried to fake a call from her mother to get out of the compromising situation, everyone knew it was a lie because her mum died two years ago, they all attended the funeral.
"Hi mum, how are you-"
"Karen stop, your mum's dead, remember?" Lois interrupted
"Okay guys, why don't we relax and take a break for a while", Cathy interrupted as she saw that the situation would soon escalate into a cat fight.
"Look at you, acting matured, since when? Did you finally ditch the drama queen persona behind?" Gwen said thinking she was being funny.
"No I grew up, you should try it sometime, it will really help with your looks and your marriage", Cathy responded. 
Gwen was having problems with her marriage and had lost custody of her twins because of her alcohol abuse. The place went dead silent after Cathy made this statement, they all had problems of their own, but that was a low blow, even for Emily. The fun, happy night they all looked forward to, had died in an instant, the place was now just a cold room with people who had scores to settle, old wounds that never healed and the party had become an avenue for people who had grudges against each other to vent, It was just miserable.
" Emily, I'm sorry-"
"Shut up, Just shut up" Gwen stormed out of the room crying
"Oh MY GOD, what a play, such drama" Stacy said clapping and laughing at all that had just happened,
"Nothing is funny" Esther said angrily
"Oh but it is"
"You think you're better than us"
"No, honey, I know I am" she said, sipping from her wine class, feeling even more empowered. Lois was just quiet the whole time and was still worried about Emily. A few hours after the whole fiasco, the lights started flickering uncontrollably.
"Okay?, is that normal" Lois asked
Then out of nowhere screams resonated from beyond the hallway
It was Cathy "Help me find Gwen" she said frightened
"Why?"
"I went after her to go apologize but I still can't find her, please, I saw something in the woods".
Esther and the other girls quickly went to the basement to change from their heels to boots and took flashlights, so they could find Gwen in the woods. Lois went a different way and took a flashlight for herself to find her sister too. Charlotte decided to go with Lois to help her.
"call us, when you find anything" Esther said to Lois as they went separate ways to look for the missing Emily and Gwen.
It was dark, foggy, cold and scary, but Lois ventured into to unknown, to find her sister. She was scared to  bone, at the point of shivering but she had Charlotte's hand to hold.
It had been 5 nerve racking hours searching for Emily in the night, until Lois finally got a call. She picked it urgently thinking it was her sister
"Hello, hello, Emily, is that you?"
"No its Esther, have you found her?"
"No, we're still looking"
"We haven't had any luck either but call me if you find anything"
"Okay bye"
Lois losing patience and even getting more worried decided to call Emily one last time. This time she could hear the ringtone of her sister's phone, so like a dog, she followed the trail, listening to the tunes of the ringtone to lead her way. The place was quiet so it was very easy for her. The sound led her to an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the wood.
"What the hell, would Emily be doing here". She stopped the call and proceeded to the warehouse, where she met Charlotte. She was so preoccupied looking for Emily she has forgotten Charlotte had taken a different route to look to Emily too.
"You can't go inside" Charlotte stood in Lois' way as she was going in the warehouse. The expression of Charlotte's face was as if she had just walked out on a horror movie, it scared Lois.
" what do you mean?, isn't my sister inside"
"Yes"
"So why can't I go"
"I'm really sorry for what you are going to see"
Lois like a bull, barged inside, head first, pushing Charlotte out of the way,
And to her horror, the one thing no sister would like to see, the worst nightmare she could never dream of was now before her eyes. Her legs shook uncontrollably, the cold of the night creeped up her spine, her knees dropped as she knelt before the gruesome scene of her sister's corpse. The corpse had been hopelessly beaten beyond recognition, there was blood everywhere, her face was unrecognizable but the corpse had Emily's phone and was wearing Emily's clothes
"No no no no no no NOOO, this, this isn't Emily, we have to keep looking" her eyes became too watery to see, she sobbed so much she could barely breathe. 
Charlotte said nothing and just hugged Lois as she screamed in unbelievable pain. Lois, with her watery eyes moved closer to her sister's lifeless body and embraced it like her life depended on it. Lois felt scars on the back of the corpse when she hugged it. She turned the body over and read what was written on her sister's back. She read, terrified, in a trembling voice
"One down, 10 to go".
