ELARA
A handfuls of nights had passed since finding the rose quartz and I was growing ever curious as to how it had gotten into the stream. Although the forest in which I lived was secluded is was no stranger to the occasional visitor who was walking with a pet or exploring the land, it was a possibility that someone had simply lost it and that is how it came to be ... but I had a strange feeling that this was not the case. Alas I did not have time to dwell on the matter as this evening was special, it was a full moon and I had some rituals to perform.
I may not believe in the kind of magic that is told in books, take Harry Potter for example, but I do believe in the magic that is karma and I may even have a childish soft spot for believing in the supernatural. When I was a young child my mother taught me a tale of a fairy full moon, she told me that if I was to leave a par of shoes outside in the moon light a fairy would leave the gift of a stone or a gem for me to find in the morning. as A child I loved this tale, and every full moon I would leave my shoes outside... but only once did I find a a small ruby in the sole. I think that is the point in which I became and earthly being, it was the moment I realised I wanted to look after all the wonders the earth had to offer.
Although I was not going to leave my shoes out for the fairy tonight. I looked at the grandfather clock in my sitting room and found that is was already half past eleven, If I was to make it on time for midnight I had Better get dressed. I scurried off to my wardrobe in search of my ritual dress, it was beautiful l if I do say so myself. I hurriedly put on my white shirt and pulled the silky blue dress over the top, the press fell down to my ankles and glittered in the soft moon light. I found no need for shoes as tonight I wanted to be connected with the earth, I wanted to feel the earths power and ask some very important questions.
Before heading out the door of my cabin I picked up the quartz. I had no idea why I picked it up but it felt right to bring it along with me, maybe tonight I would find some answers. I made my way to a clearing in the forest there was one large rock surrounded my mushrooms and daisies, it was perfect for my full moon rituals. usually I would ask the moon to protect the earth or I would ask the moon to take care of loved ones and bring peace to the land, but tonight was different. As midnight struck and the moon shone at its bights I decided to place the quartz upon the rock. I looked up toward the moon and asked her where it had come from and why is had chosen me to find it... I waited in silence, the earth cool beneath my feet and the grass tickling my toes that is until the quartz was not on the rock anymore. Hmmm that was odd, I defiantly left it their and nobody was around to take it, I would have noticed if they were.
suddenly a little glowing light, I presumed was a firefly, appeared in the distance. Being curious I waled toward the light but upon arrival it had gone and another further in the distance had replaced it. Was the moon answering my question? Was I following a wild goose chase? Had I finally reached a level of crazy even I didn't understand? But I continued to follow the little lights growing ever more inquisitive as to where they where guiding me. I felt like I had been following them for hours and maybe I had been but I continued, I was so focused on the lights that I was not looking at where my feet joined with the earth and suddenly I was falling. I did not scream as I felt like their was no air in my lungs to let go of. I fell so far down I must have overstepped a cave opening I was falling so fast but I must have bumped my head or passed out from the speed of falling as suddenly I was encased in darkness and my unconscious mind was left to wonder.
*thump*
I heard my body hit the ground but I could not open my eyes... I took in a deep breath, How had I survived that fall? I didn't understand how I was still alive but I was thankful and sent my silent thanks to the sun, the moon, the gods - anyone who was listening really! My eyes still would not open and I could not move, it was as if I as frozen in time like a memory or a picture of child hood youth. I had lost my ability to move and I had lost my ability to see but I could still hear and that was a good sign. I played there for what seemed like centuries on the cold ground until I hear footsteps, they where heavy and unforgiving, echoing around me. All the hairs on my body stood to attention yet I still outdent move or have my eyelids open, I was scared of who the footsteps may belong to and I was not ready to die where nobody could find my body and bring my family peace.
I felt the footstep cease and it was so eerily quiet that I was sure, had I been fully conscious, I would have buckled under the tension. my mind felt heavy and I slipped in to a fully unconscious state only being able to make out mumbling before the feeling of being lifted off of the ground.
what have I gotten myself into?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A/N: Hello reader, what are the chapter lengths like? are they too short, too long, just right? penny for your thoughts. I wonder what will happen next, I do hope I built up some sort of suspence during this chapter and the last.
