I
finally got home, it began to spit little drops of rain onto the somber pavement in front of our house. My drops began to tickle down my serene skin as I turned the key to unlock the front door. The very large shamrock colored oak trees that towered over the roof of the house were dying due to the fall, it made me commemorate the harsh reality of mother nature and all that comes with the burden of life. I am welcomed home with my mother's favorite unmistakable scent of peppermint, I plummet my rather heavy bag onto the wooden floorboards and I'm greeted goodbye as mom leaves for work, she was working for this kind of insurance company only four blocks from here.
I wanted nothing more than to shower and change out of my damp slacks, but I had to check on Aj. I wonder with much fervor into the living room, to find Aj wearing a petite red overall sitting all alone on the alabaster couch."Hey Aj, are you okay"?
I ask pleased, relaxing my body against the double door. But no answer."How was school"?
Still no answer, his head was turned away towards the window as the rain outside became abundant wanting to spill not one word. He reaches down to his toys and begins to crash his cars together making a bothersome noise, my face drops more befuddled like and I approach slightly.
"I understand, but you know you can talk to me at anytime right"?
...
"I'm going to have a shower and I'll be back down soon okay"?
I back away making sure there wasn't anything dangerous in eye sight for Aj, I felt so bad for the little guy. He must have been so scared and confused moving in with a whole new family, he must have had a rough day at school or something I'm sure of it. I'll check on him after and see if he wanted to make some sandwiches.
Hustling up the stairs I quickly shut the door and begin to take my clothes off piece by piece all sprawled over the teal bathroom carpet, the crisp splashing of water soothes my chest, dribbling all the way down to my feet causing a small pool at the edge of the plug hole. I grab my apple scented Avalon champu and squirt it's contents on the top of my head massaging my scalp. I stand letting the troubles of the day pass wondering what could happen at the party tomorrow, I didn't really care too much about it but it was finally a chance to let loose, I am usually so stiff and stale not really giving anything new a chance. I couldn't wait for a new change, maybe I will really like it, maybe I could get to know Louis a little better. The guy can't just be all jokes and games, there was something about him that was so appealing...Was it his known wealthy family?
His love for music?
His good sense of humor?
His hair?
His smile?
...I feel a sudden twitch. Down there.
I turn the shower off on the double. And go ahead to dry myself, shrugging the feeling off in disgust. Me and Louis? We were like Ying and Yang. And that was that. Hell. Even Genevieve was more his type, there're both very bubbly and enjoy making people laugh.
No time to waste, I open my draws and yank out a balmy yet plain mink sweater and some jeans.SMASH!
I jump as I hear a loud shattering downstairs.
AJ!My eyes dart spin the living room to spot the commotion, Aj had the living room clock in his tiny hands, his face was sanguine with anger and discouraged.
"AJ"? "What are you doing"?!!
I shudder hysterically wanting him to stop.
He pursues to total the old russet clock, I walk up to him and grab his arm. He forces me away in scorn.
