I was waiting in line at the cafeteria, checking my phone to see if Bea had arrived. We both had Operating Systems in 10 minutes and she was running late. I got a supersize pack of Lays since I didn't have a lunch break today. I stepped outside, reading Bea's text that she was in class. Tapping out a reply, I saw a pair of boots step into my peripheral vision and I moved aside, still typing. The pair of boots didn't move, and when I looked up, the familiar brown-headed boy was looking down at me, hands back in his pockets.

"Oh look at that. You're not bumping into people anymore. Progress." I say, closing my phone.

"I figured you were getting bruised up so I'm dialing it down."

"Dialing it down" I mutter. "What were you trying to say with the coffee? Who makes a teacher deliver coffee, for heaven's sake? Are you nuts?" I swatted at him with my phone.

"Oww no stop." Holds up his hands. "I drank all your tea so it's only right that I provide. Didn't you like it?" He looks at me, tongue poking out his cheek.

I stare mesmerized for a second. There's something to be said about how different it is to watch someone do something through a screen and in person. Surreal.

"That's not the point. I was so embarrassed. How did you even get her to agree? She should have sent u back with a fly in your ear."

His face twists into a grin. "Teachers around here love me. They can't say no."

"Even those that don't teach you?"

"Especially those", he laughs.

"Well, nobody can say you don't abuse your power" I smile prettily. "I need to run, I have class." I turn to dash away, then stop and look over my shoulder.

"Oh and the coffee was pretty good, actually. Thanks!"

He nods, hands still in his pockets and turns to walk away.

So he'd stop by me to talk but won't reply? Jerk.

After class, Bea asked me if I wanted to go with her to this pizza place. "It's just some other software majors. We meet every week there, just to hang out or discuss work."

"Sounds nice. I'll go." I still had to pick up those books from the office but I was too tired today. Caffeine crash, followed by no food. The books'll have to wait. We ordered pizza when we got home and I spent the afternoon scrolling through my phone. Then opened my laptop and downloaded a few softwares we'd been told to install. Then, because I couldn't help myself, I googled Jungkook. Same news. A couple of new posts on weverse. But I could see now, he never posted anything about classes or college. It seemed the dean's policy was working pretty well.

Later, we went together to the pizza parlor. It was a Harry Potter themed place. A sign on the door said "Have you tried our Stuffed Pottertoes? They're siriusly good."

I groaned. "Ugh that's so bad, it's insulting"

"I know. They keep achieving new levels of sucking."

"Weird place for a software club to meet, by the way."

She snorts. "I know but it's the quietest. This is pretty much a college town, you know. College kids are way too cool for HP."

"I'm not. I love it, cringey signs and all. They even have a bowling alley, wow."

"Do you like bowling?"

"Like? Yes. But am I good at it? No."

"You're such a dork" She laughs. "Here they are. Everyone, meet Liz."

I look around the table, there's another girl, and 4 guys. The girl smiles first, getting up and giving me a hug.

"Hey Liz! I'm Sam. It's nice to meet you."

"Uh thanks! You too."

"So you're the transfer from Long Island?" the blonde guy in a graphic tee asks. I nod, sitting down next to Bea.

"You must be pretty smart to get that scholarship" the black-haired guy with green eyes said, grinning. "I still remember Zach here crying when he didn't get it".

The blonde guy – Zach – throws a menu at him, which he ducks away from. "Your one single hour of being better than me, Saf. You're never going to let that go, are you?"

"You're never going to get over the fact that I actually am better than you, idiot. At all hours of the day."

"Says the guy who couldn't figure out the bug in his semester project was a typo".

"What- No, you know that function-"

The guy on Bea's right rolled his eyes, like he'd heard this argument a million times. He was bigger than the others, with a broader build and rectangular glasses. They looked really cute on him. "Okay guys. I hate to say this but you're too geeky even for us geeks." They glared at him.

"You're boring Liz. Let's be normal for a change."

I couldn't help laughing. "No, I'm not bored. This is fascinating, bugs rarely get this kind of attention around a...dinner table."

The other 2 turn towards me, ready to retort. The broad guy snorts. "I like you already. I'm Jacob, by the way".

"That actually is his full name. Jacob By-The-Way". The last guy says and Jacob smacks him upside the head with another menu. "And I'm Edward" he smiles at me.

"Our very own personal vampire." Zach says, swinging an arm around his chair, earning a glare from Edward.

"Yeah Zach doesn't really have a lot of luck with people our age so now he's looking for vampires." Sam says, winking at me from behind her menu.

"I will not take this abuse" Zach yells. "I just don't want any girls who don't get my cool tees, you know." He gestured towards his shirt, which read "Are you a semi-colon? Cause you complete me".

"Yeah that's the issue. You not wanting them" Saf murmurs, passing me his menu with a small smile.

"Besides, I'm saving all my affections for a very special someone." Zach winks at me.

"Who?" I blurt out.

"Lily Collins" The table bursts into laughter and I try to keep my face straight, holding back giggles. Zach was cute, sure, in a wiry, nerdy way. But waiting to date a celebrity? That's just silly.

"We've already got their wedding all planned out. All that's left is to...actually inform the bride?" Bea giggles.

"Laugh all you want, I'm telling you, we share a connection. She just doesn't realize it yet. Liz, haven't you ever felt that way about someone?"

I look up, feeling everyone's eyes on me. "Oh I guess so, but reality always slows me down in my...wedding plans".

The others snort andZach looks up at me, shaking his head. "And I thought you were different."
