It was the next morning and Chell woke up. She walked downstairs to check on Glados, hoping that she was awake. Unfortunately, she wasn't yet and was still sleeping on the couch. Chell sighed and smiled at her before walking into the kitchen to make them breakfast. She made something simple with eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
Chell eventually finished eating and waited for Glados to wake up. She hummed softly as she sat at the table.
Glados was awake now and sat up on the couch, stretching a little bit before walking over to where Chell was sitting. "Morning."
Chell looked over at her, a little surprised but happy that she was finally awake now. "Good morning! How did you sleep?"
"Pretty good." Glados sat down across from her and looked at the food in front of her. She didn't feel hungry at the moment though. She sighed and rested her head on her hands, looking out the window across the room.
"What's wrong?" Chell asked, concerned.
"It's nothing. I'm just not hungry right now."
"Oh, alright then. I'll just put it in the fridge in case you want it later." Chell said as she grabbed her plate and placed it inside. "So, what do you want to do today?"
Glados just shrugged in response and kept looking out the window, into the field. She wanted to just go back to Aperture now. She wasn't used to living like this, up here, anymore.
Chell noticed how she was acting and couldn't help but feel worried for her. "Is everything okay Glad?" She sat down right next to Glados and looked at her.
"It's fine. Everything's just fine." Glados still looked away from her.
Chell sighed. "Alright then." She was trying to think of something they could do together to get her mind off of Aperture for once. "I was thinking maybe we could watch some movies together. Y'know, to just chill for a while. You have been through a lot and it would be good for you to take a break from everything going on."
"I guess..." Glados stood up and walked off to get dressed. Chell looked at her sort of upset as she walked away.
Glados went back into the living room after getting dressed and Chell followed, sitting right next to her on the couch. She turned on the TV and chose some movies to watch for the rest of the day.
Chell had to do something really quick so she went somewhere else in the house. As she did that, Glados saw this as an opportunity to go back to Aperture. She got her shoes on and walked out of the door, going through the fields to the lab.
As she made her way further into the fields, she started to feel bad for just leaving Chell like that. She didn't turn around though, she kept walking forwards, eventually reaching Aperture. She walked into the elevator inside the shed and moved down. Eventually, she found her way to the roof and sat down, looking at the sky. Tears clouded her vision as she sat there and thought about everything. Thought about her past and how they would sit here all the time and watch the sunset. Thought about her childhood. Thought about how she didn't have so many worries and how she was happy.
Happiness. It was a foreign thing to her now. A thing that she doubted would ever happen again in her life.
'How could I feel happy with all the stuff I have been through? I don't deserve any kindness from anyone, especially Chell... How can she be so kind when I have been so rude and dismissive to her?'
Glados hugged her legs to her and cried, all alone. A part of her was wishing that Chell would notice she was gone and come after her. She stared off into the sky as tears rolled down her face.
Chell eventually came back into the living room. "Alright, I'm back Glad-" She noticed that Glados wasn't there and started to worry a little bit. She knows that there is only one place that she could've gone, so she put her shoes on and ran all the way to Aperture, eventually finding Glados sitting on the roof. She sighed a breath of relief and walked up right next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder. She sat down with her and saw her tears. "Are you alright Glad?"
Glados looked over at her as another wave of tears came up in her eyes. She quickly squeezed onto Chell and sobbed. Chell just hugged her back, wanting to comfort her. "Hey, it's alright. I'm here for you. I'm here." She said, rubbing her back to calm her down more.
"I-I'm so sorry..."
"What are you sorry about? You didn't do anything. It's okay."
"No it's not. It's not okay. I hurt you and tested you. I've hurt everyone around me. I'm just a monster. I don't deserve a friend like you. You deserve a way better friend than me. Someone who would treat you better than I ever did."
"Glados." Chell pulled away from their hug and put a hand on her face, looking her in the eyes. She got a few tears in her eyes from how emotional she was getting. "You are the greatest friend I could ever possibly have in my life. You mean so much to me. More than you could imagine. I would do absolutely anything for you. I love you so much."
Glados just cried even more from hearing that and hugged her again. "I love you too."
Chell hugged her again as her tears fell down her face. "I'll always be here for you when you need me, okay?"
Glados nodded a little bit. "Okay."
After a while, they stopped hugging and sat there on the roof, looking out into the sunset, like old times.
"I remember sitting up here almost every night with you to watch the sunset. We would sit in this same spot." Glados smiled.
"Yeah, I remember that too. It was fun." Chell smiled back at her. "I mean, it still is fun, but it also feels a bit nostalgic."
"Yeah it does." Glados cheered up a little bit. "It feels nice to have someone here with me. I was actually hoping that you would come after I left."
Chell seemed a little surprised. "Of course I would. Why would you think I wouldn't come looking for you?"
"I don't know. I thought you would be mad at me for leaving."
"Of course I wouldn't. I wasn't mad at all. Just worried for you."
"Alright then." Glados looked back off at the sky.
Chell looked a little upset, seeing that Glados was still pretty sad. She sighed and brushed it off, focusing on the good things. All that mattered was that Glados was okay. She felt lucky to have a friend like her. She's smart, kind... beautiful. She's everything Chell could ask for.
Chell got up a little bit to scoot closer to Glados. She couldn't help but stare. To her, she was more fascinating than the sunset. Chell started to blush a little bit, thinking. She hesitated before getting Glados' attention. "Glados?"
Glados looked up at her, wondering what she wanted before being silenced by Chell's hands on her face and Chell kissing her. Glados was wide eyed now, blushing a lot before calming down and closing her eyes.
Chell let go and looked at her, face all red. Glados got all shy and put her hands over her face, wanting to hid the fact that she was all flustered now. Chell laughed a little bit at that; she thought it was funny to see her all shy like this. Glados calmed down and punched her softly on the shoulder, laughing a little bit. "Lunatic."
Glados and Chell continued to talk to each other for the rest of the night on the roof, sitting under the sky filled with stars, enjoying each other's company...
