After that event, you didn't really see Rainbow that often for a few weeks. That is, in person.Everyday, they would call you.
"Salutations! Is everything alright where you live?"
"Yes, I'm fine, Rainbow."
"Good, good. Just checking in to make sure you're okay. Bye-bye!" click.
It was always the same. Most people would get annoyed pretty quickly, but you found it...endearing. One day, you decided to not answer, just to see what would happen.
You sat back, smiling, watching your phone buzz over and over, trying to get you to answer the call. You wouldn't.
And then came the texts.
Rainbow 2.0 🌈: Y/N
Rainbow 2.0 🌈: Y/N ARE YOU OKAY
Rainbow 2.0 🌈: WHY AREN'T YOU
ANSWERING MY CALLS
Rainbow 2.0 🌈: IS EVERYTHING
ALRIGHT? DO I NEED TO CALL THE
CRYSTAL GEMS? OR THE HUMAN
POLICE?
Rainbow 2.0 🌈: Y/N ARE YOU THERE?
Rainbow 2.0 🌈: Y/N????You felt a sudden pang of guilt. You could almost hear Rainbow's worrying. You couldn't resist picking up your phone and calling Rainbow. They immediately picked up.
"Hey Rainbow, I'm so-"
"Y/N WHY DIDN'T YOU ANSWER MY CALLS OR MY TEXTS?!" Rainbow interrupted.
"W-woah, hey, calm down..." you soothed. "I'm fine, I just... wasn't using my phone at the moment.
"Oh."
"..."
When Rainbow finally spoke again, their voice seemed much calmer. "Well, I was just... um... you always picked up whenever I called you, and answered whenever I texted you, and I... I just overreacted. I-I'm sorry, it won't happen again! I-I promise!"
You smiled. "Don't sweat it. Oh, uh, by the way, do you want to maybe meet up sometime?"
"Oh? Like a d- yeah! I would love to!" Rainbow responded.
You spent the next few minutes talking about the meeting arrangements and the boring stuff. Finally, you two decided to meet on Wednesday (in two days) at 4 p.m., at a local amusement park.
"Alright, Y/N. I'll see you then!" Rainbow concluded.
"Haha, yeah. Goodnight, Rainbow!" you said, ending the call. You flopped onto your bed, sighing. Finally, something- or rather, someone was there to make your life a little bit interesting.
