"Cyclopes!" The boy screamed, pointing at the giant man.

The man grinned a toothy grin when he saw us. His teeth were yellowing and twisted. He had hunks of meat stuck in between them. I read about Cyclopes before. I sure hope that the meat is goats.

Nico rushed into action. The boy was still shaking. I grabbed his arm and dragged him behind a tree.

"Go get help!" I said looking into his stormy eyes. "I'll be right back." He nodded slowly and I ran to help Nico. I clicked on my ring and made my bow and arrows appear.

Nico was slashing at the cyclope's legs. Golden blood oozed out from his cuts. Nico stabbed his big toe and the Cyclopes bellowed in pain and smacked Nico several feet away.

"No!" I flung an arrow at his face. He blocked it with his hand, which made it stab into it instead. I hear shouts of other campers. Thank the gods for that boy.

Three kids from Ares lunged at the Cyclopes' legs. While they were distracting him, I took out my two daggers. I ran behind the giant man and started to scale up his leg, using my daggers to climb up. The campers unbalanced him and he went crashing down, flattening more trees. I held on as tight as I could, but lost my grip and fell onto the hard ground.

I groaned and grabbed my left arm. I felt something warm and liquid running down to my fingertips. Blood. I winced at the pain from touching it. I had a deep gash just below my shoulder. I forced myself to my feet, feeling dazed. Then a humongous shadow covered me.

I looked up and saw the Cyclopes' hand coming down in an alarming rate. I closed my eyes, expecting to be squished like a bug. Five seconds. Ten. 15. Then a mountain load of what felt like sand fell on me.

I opened my eyes dug out. I saw that the sand was golden dust. Nico stood where the Cyclopes was. He scanned around until he met my eyes. He started running towards me.

"Ava!" He reached me and pulled me into a tight hug. I winced again. He must have noticed it because he pulled away. He checked my arm.

"Come on." He started, wrapping an arm around my waist. I blushed front the sudden contact. "We need to get you to the infirmary."

When we reached the infirmary, Nico made me lay on a bed. I started to protest but he wouldn't let me go. He poured me a glass of nectar, which I gulped down.

It tasted like the Oreo milkshakes Nico and I had the first time we hung out. We went to a carnival and challenged each other. Whoever could keep their dinner in their stomach after zero gravity got to do a favor. Nico ended up giving me a piggy back ride all the way home.

"What did it taste like?" His voice interruped my thoughts.

Nico Di Angelo
I watched her gulp down the nectar. After she was finished, she smiled and sighed happily. Her eyes were closed, as if she were thinking.

"What did it taste like?" I asked out of curiosity.

She opened her eyes. They looked as silver as the moon.

"It tasted like those Oreo milkshakes we had at that carnival." She replied smiling.

I remember that. I can't believe I lost that bet. I threw up in the nearest trash can. I had to walk all the way back to her house with her on my back. Her cut on her arm started to heal.

"Hey, look at your arm." I gestured to it.

She looked over and gasped. When it healed, it left a scar. I grabbed her arm, which made her tense up, and rubbed my thumb against the new smooth skin.
