Before I had even purchased my ticket to get into the fair grounds I could smell the familiar scent of corn dogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, and sweets. Liam had dragged me to the various carnivals, fairs, festivals, amusement parks, and theme parks over the years. That boy loved his fair food and his rides, even if the rides seemed a bit too scary for comfort. I walked through the entrance gates, handing off my ticket for the attendant to tear it. My heart began to beat uncontrollably as I entered the grounds and didn't see Liam right away, families, workers, balloons, and children blocking my view. Standing solo in the crowded fair felt uncomfortable, I was almost in a panic when I finally spotted Liam in the distance munching on a carmel apple. He looked so happy, I was thankful that he got to take a slight break from being 1/5 of the biggest boy band in the world, and just be Liam for a night. He was watching the ferris wheel go around in circles, taking small bites of his apple, before he spotted me coming his way.

He turned facing me, opening his arms as if to signify as hug but holding out his half snacked on apple and a fresh one for me. I had to admit out of all of the fair food, the carmel toffee apples were my favorite. "Hello love," he smiled handing me an apple. "Did you find me alright?"

"Yeah, no problems," I smiled taking a big bite of the apple, causing Liam to burst into heavy laughter.

"Perhaps I should have gotten ya two!" he joked before taking an equally large bite of his own apple.

"It's quite chilly tonight," I said buttoning up my coat for warmth.

"Yeah but that's a good thing! Not as many people out, shorter queues for the rides!" His face lit up like a child on Christmas morning discovering Santa had visited in the night. "There is this new dizzying ride I'm dying to give a go!"

"Yay," I said sarcastically, dizzy rides had a slight habit of upsetting my stomach though I never told Liam that. I had always managed to hold down my stomach and try to enjoy the ride. It made Liam so happy, I couldn't deny him that.

"This Ferris wheel is massive! Biggest I've ever seen at a fair before I reckon!"

"That's for sure! We'll have to give it a go later on," I stared up at the wheel, Ferris wheels were hands down my favorite of all rides. They have such a slow, almost calming ride. I bit the last few bites of apple off the core, before tossing the stick in the near by bin.

"Oh we have to document the night!" Liam exclaimed as he tossed his apple stick in the bin as well. "A selfie!"

"Oh do we have to?" I joked fixing my hair and cozying up to him as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.

"Ready!" he asked holding the phone out.

"Of course," I smiled.

"Perfect, now a silly one!" he smiled  down at me, reaching his arm out again as we posed with silly faces. "Love it!"

"How's my hair look?" I asked as Liam started walking ahead. He barely looked up from his phone, holding up an 'ok' symbol with his fingers.

"I just wanted to send the photo to my dad," he smiled placing the phone back in his pocket. "He was excited that we were off to the fair tonight. I told him to join us but he declined."

"Aww, he should have," I said, Liam's dad was perhaps one of the nicest men I had ever met. I was disappointed that he had declined to come, and also that he was probably missing Liam. It had to be hard knowing that he was home, just not 'home'. I liked to think that his father did like me enough to not mind that I had borrowed his son for the night.

"You're shivering!" Liam exclaimed pointing as my chilled body.

"Yes, slightly!" I laughed, "I should have grabbed a scarf."
