When the prince went missing, the king
ordered the soldiers to search for him. Unfortunately, They searched everywhere but he could not be found. The king ordered again to search for the prince but this time whoever finds him would get a bounty of five hundred gold coins. as soon as the word got out, they went searching every nook and cranny at the gloomy village. There lived an orphan girl who wasn't cared for. She turned seventeen this year, one more year and she won't get support from the orphanage. The village is on the verge of starvation, and not enough food supplies made the cost higher. No mercy is shown in the village.
The girl is doing the chores for the orphanage instead of the house-mothers. They forced her to do the chores because she is no longer preferred and did not have a penny. The girl has poor knowledge because of poor education from the house-mothers. She gets to eat a small amount of food, when she wants more they scold her and say."The food is only for children. You be grateful or pay up."
The starving girl vanished into her darkroom that is hardly a room. One of her friends who she grew up with, helped her with food. The girl was so thankful and felt indebted to her friend. In the afternoon, her friend talked about getting a job.
Friend, "Since we soon get to be independent, how about getting a job and save a lot of money before we get kicked out?!"
Girl, "Sounds good!! I am going to feel like an adult."
Friend, " you are an adult! *Giggles*"
Girl, "Maybe"?! *Laughs*"
It was her first time laughing. After their laughable conversation, the girl felt delighted and was thinking of getting a job.
House-Mother, " LEECH COME HERE RIGHT NOW!!!"
The house-mother gave her a shameful nickname and always hated her from the start. The girl came running downstairs to the living room.
Girl, "um... yes mother!"
House-Mother, "here take the money and a bag. Go buy some vegetables, they better be fresh or you'll be sorry you ever landed in my hands."
Girl, " Okay, I will go."
House-mother, "also don't touch them."
Girl, "Then how I -"
House-Mother, "I do not care so don't touch them."
The house-mother was full of arrogance and did not have a single pity for the poor girl. The girl goes to the market full of poor souls who do not have anything and she feels pity for those below her. The girl kept holding her grudge and sorrow thinking her bright future is near and that's what motivates her to keep on living.
Girl, "Mr, give me one kilo of potatoes and tomatoes, one pack of ladyfingers, please."
Mister, "Ah... yes wait here."
The Mister looked troubled he worked alone with all the crowds waiting for what they ordered. By mistake, Mister pushed the stock full of tomatoes with his leg. The girl quickly picks up the tomatoes before it gets bruised. No one dared to pick and some were snatching. But still, Mister was grateful for the girl who picked them up.
Mister, "Oh goodness, thanks for helping me in this packed place, it is hard-working alone here."
Girl, "Oh, you need help? I can help by working here."
The girl felt a bit bad asking like that but it was a job opportunity for her.
Mister, "Oh really?! Looks like I don't need to find anyone to work here. I am grateful."
Girl, "No, I am grateful well... also could I called my friend to work here too."
Mister, "ah sure!"
After she got all the things about what the house-mother ordered, she went home in excitement at dusk. The girl immediately went upstairs to her friend's room, but she can hear her friend's conversation. She knocked on the door because she does not want eavesdrop at them but heard some of the words. Something along the line about Prince Norwin missing because of miss Lora rejecting and chattered, chattered.
Of course, it was a rumour they made, but they need some gossip for their desire.Girl, "I got a job also for you too so sleep early and no need to thank me."
Friend, " Really!! Thanks so much, you are awesome!"
The girl who's full of excitement couldn't sleep a wink till the morning after she and her friend finished their breakfast and went straight to
the market to get their work started. After. Some weeks they got their incomes. The girl got more than her friend and that made her friend mad. The friend wanted to know why.Mr, "What a silly question you ask! Well, because she works better than you that's why."
Her friend looked at her upset and was jealous of all the negative thoughts streaming inside her mind.
Friend, "Well, it seems you are good now but I also was good too back then to you too so maybe how about you show your goodness to your only friend."
The girl knows what the friend wants, but being good is not wanting things back.
Girl, "Once you shared you were my friend, now you are attempting to pull a threat at me you are no friend!"
The girl dashed out running somewhere quite with streaming tears beneath her eyes, sadness overflowing in her sweet warm heart.
The girl kept sobbing and sat behind a locked door of the wooden small cottage.
Grandma, "Oh cry softly please my heart can't take it anymore I can't do anything for you sweetheart."
The girl looked back voice comes behind her a locked door which is why she looked confused.
Girl, "oh no, are you stuck in there? do you want me to help?!"
Grandma, "oh not really ha-ha I am living here it's my house I am doing this for my daughter, or she will get mad."
Girl, "for your daughter? Why would she want that?!"
Grandma, "How about I tell you a story of mine. A poor family with one beautiful daughter who got married to a well off family. So, she cut off her relationship with her family for the sake of her rich noble husband's reputation.
The mother went to look for her and finally found her, the daughter rushed to a room and locked her mother in there."Girl, "oh, how cruel of her! Oh... sorry for speaking ill of her."
Grandma, "no, you spoke the truth, and I am doing for her sake. No need to worry."
The girl seems to want to open up as well.
Girl, "You see... I am so jealous and upset inside when I see a family. Why don't I have a family nor a friend or anyone with me? oh, I am lonely. Grandma, I wonder when will this feeling stops it hurts my heart so much.
Oh, I wish I was just a child and never grow up."Grandma, " goodness you are hurt more than me but don't let your sorrow take your sweet warmhearted."
When this sweet sorrowful conversation ended, the rain began. the girl was rushing back home. On the way, she saw something surprising lay on the grass. It was a tiny prince he
looked so pale, she felt pity leaving this
tiny lad in the heavy rain, so she
picked him up and put him in her pocket. Off she went to her home.To Be Continued.
