Ace pov

3 days later and its time for school once again, something I'm definitely not ready for. If I could, I'd stay in bed all day and hide from the world but I get up and and head to school anyway.

When I get there, I go straight to class, doing my best to avoid Dick.

I'm almost to the door when I'm hit in the back of the head by something hard and fast. I whip around, forgetting myself and where I am. My roundhouse kick is caught midair by a tan, slender hand attached to the one person I never thought I'd see here.

"Artemis!"

"Hey Bitch good to see you too."

"You're here! How?! What about Gotham north?"

"Couldn't leave you here alone. Plus my mom"

"This is amazing!" I say as I hug her. "I have so much to tell you."

"Me too but first we run."

She sprints the rest of the way to the classroom and goes to the back to the two empty seats where I usually sat with- I shake my head. I can't think about him now. I sit next to her and put my bag down.

"Ok what the hell was that? I know the hallway smells like ass but you don't have to run."

She laughs in a high pitched sarcastic way.

"There's just this stupid guy who keeps popping up ever since I crossed the threshold of this dump this morning and I can't stand to see him anymore. Thank goodness he found that equally stupid looking friend of his and I made a break for it."

"Wow, I knew you were stone cold but I didn't think you'd hate strangers that fast."

"Oh shut up. You have no idea who this guy is, you'll know him when you see him. And oh my gosh no no no no."

She ducks behind her bag and I glance up. There's a tall gangly looking ginger kid who walks in and I'm just about to turn to Artemis and tell her she has some sort of nerd stalker when I see Dick. We lock eyes as he comes up beside the ginger who points a finger at Artemis and makes what I'm sure is a lewd comment given the arrogant grin on his face. Dick smiles and comments back but his eyes never leave me. I have to look away but all I can see is him. The awed look when he saw me at the ball. The way his hands felt when we danced. The stupid grin before he kissed me in improv and the feel of my hands in his hair when I kissed him again.

Thankfully, the bell rings to break the spell and I feel a weight in my chest when he and the ginger sit across the room from us. I can't help but let out a sigh.

"What's wrong with you?"

My head snaps to reality and I look at her.

"It's a long story."

"Does it have something to do with the definitely not friends staring contest I saw just now with the ginger idiot's accomplice?"

".......yea. We can eat lunch on the roof and I'll explain everything...I'd prefer to avoid him at all costs which will be very hard."

"I expect all the dirty details." She shoots me a sly smile.

Class goes by in a blur. It turns out Artemis shares almost all of my classes, except for theater which I'm dreading. It's my only class where I won't be able to distract myself from Dick. I try to act cool as I wave to Artemis and walk in. I let out a breathe when I see I'm the first one here and sit in the back row where no one can sit next to me. I really hope I don't have to interact with him this time.
