A little train journey later, we arrived in Brighton. It was a 5-10 walk to the restaurant, and it was a little chilly. The sun was starting to set, and the street were busy with late shoppers and early drinkers like us. We gossiped all the way to restaurant, linking arms together both for warmth and to contain our excitement for us finally getting a night out together in what felt like forever.

We turned the corner laughing and we spotted Jess having a smoke outside with Paul and 3 others. 2 guys and another girl. The girl was in her mid-20s, and she had a lot of fake things attached to her. Bleach blonde hair with fake hair extensions, fake nails, fake eyelashes. Heavily drawn on eyebrows and over drawn lips. She had a serious push up bra on and a very low-cut top.

She had a great figure, toned with bottle bronze skin. She had denim short shorts on and very clean white sneakers. The little extra confidence I may have had had been scared off by her immediately. I felt myself shrink next to Sally and she gave me a gentle nudge in my ribs.

Jess introduced us. Her name was Kim, and she was actually very friendly and welcoming. I felt bad for judging a book by its cover, I expected her to be bitchy but she seemed sincere and complimented my hair.

"Thanks, I grew it myself." I tried to joke to hide my newly lost confidence.

Paul looked passed me as if I wasn't there but Kim and the 2 guys behind her laughed and I felt relieved. One of the guys leaned around Kim and introduced himself.

"Hi, I'm Chris and this is Toby." Pointing to his friend.

Chris was a tall dark and handsome type. Clearly worked out and had biceps to and shoulders to prove it. He had full tattoo sleeve on one are and a tight black short sleeve T-shirt on, enhancing every muscle in his chest. He had his eyebrow and lip pierced on the side. I'd known guys like this when I was younger, they were usually trouble. Yet he had kind eyes and a welcoming smile and he seem to looking expectantly for his friend to come into view.

What that was about?

Toby dodged around Kim and came into view and I felt the breath catch in my chest. I couldn't take my eyes from Toby's deep brown eyes. He had a smile that you could see sparkle in his eyes, even if you couldn't see his mouth. He had a nice stylish pair of glasses on, but it didn't take anything from how enticing his eyes where.

Toby was shorter than his friend Chris but still pretty tall compared to my 5 feet 2 inches. He wasn't overly muscly like Chris but I could see broad strong shoulders under his long sleeve dark blue and white checked shirt, which covered his comfortable black T-shirt.

His hair was dark brown, lightly curly and perfectly and effortlessly messy. His skin on his face was clear and smooth with a short beard and a light mustache, both nicely groomed. His lips were perfect, his bottom lip was slightly plumper than his top and his lip ring sat invitingly on the side of his mouth.

He had the most beautiful face I had ever seen. I couldn't read the look on his face but he seemed friendly, I saw his eyes look down my body and I felt my cheeks blush.

In that moment, I forgot everyone was there but him. It took me a beat too long to reply to them. Sally squeezed my arm discretely to prompt me to and that focused me a little. I could see her smirk from the corner of my eye, and I saw Chris raise his eyebrow at her as she returned it.

"Oh, Hi I'm Matilda but everyone calls me Tillie and this is Sally." I rushed, feeling the blush rise in my cheeks. I tried focusing on Chris as I spoke. I'd already stared at Toby. I felt my cheeks flush deeper. God I was such a disaster.

"Shall we eat then, or should we stand out here making googley eyes at each other?" Paul interrupted, glaring at me, then at Toby.

Why did he look at Toby?
