Third person's POV
"Put on some comfortable shoes, Xan, we're going on a hike." His mom whispered as she woke him up. After he did as she instructed him and they all got into the car. They drove for a while and then the car came to a stop next to a mountain.
Mason and Lucas ran out with their dad and Xander was going behind with his mom, Colton and Alex. They walked in silence for a while, but then Colton and Alex hurried to catch up to Mason and Lucas.
"Mom, I had a test at school yesterday and the teacher told me I did the best!" He said, referring to his third-grade class. His mom smiled and urged him to talk about it more.
"There was this question where- Woah!" He tripped and fell over a big rock. He looked down and saw a big scratch on his knee. Tears filled his eyes up, but before he could really cry, his mom bent down, washed the scratch and put a band-aid over it.
"Here you go, honey, all better." She said and kissed the scratch. He immediately felt better, so he got up.
"Thanks, I feel better now." He said, hugging his mom.
"No problem, sweetie. I'll always be there for you." She whispered.
