I take a step back, looking at Y/N in utteral shock at her request.

"G-go to the masquerade? But we can't, we're not of age." I state.

It's true. In order to attend the masquerade, one has to be at least 18 years of age. Since there will be drinking during the event, no one under the age is allowed to enjoy the festivities.

"I don't mean to go to the actual masquerade, they have a parade that goes through town. We should go see it." Y/N says, insistently.

"I don't know...what about my booth?" I question, looking at her sadly.

"Hmm...",she says to herself. Scratching the side of her head in thought.

"Wait right here." Y/N says, quickly rushing to the back entrance of the shop.

I lean my back against the brick wall and sigh to myself. My heartbeat was racing during the entire conservation. She makes me feel all nervous and sweaty. Is that a good thing or bad thing? I thought to myself until I heard the back door of the shop open.

Y/N steps out with a small brown pouch. She walks up to me slowly and holds the pouch out towards me. I look at her curiously while she smiles at me.

"I'd like to buy all of your masks." She states, a smile still resting on her face.

I raise an eyebrow to her and take the pouch hesitantly. I rummage through the contents of the bag and notice all of the gold coins. There's probably twenty or thirty of them. This is way more than what they're actually worth or what they sell for.

"I can't accept this, it's too much. I'm sorry." I say, handing the bag back to Y/N.

Y/N takes the bag and walks closer to me. My face flares up slightly as she takes my hand. She takes the pouch and places it back into my hand. Y/N closes my hand with the pouch and places her other hand over it while smiling.

"I want to, please take it." Y/N pleases softly while looking up at me.

My face feels like it's getting hotter by the second. I look at her and I nod my head slowly.

"A-alright, I'll take it." I say, stuttering slightly.

Y/N smiles brightly and she squeezes my hand slightly.

"Great, I'll take the masks inside and then we can go." She says, still smiling.

She walks over to the makeshift table and scoops up all the masks into her arms. Y/N walks back inside the shop and I take a breather. I take the table apart and place the boards back onto the wall. I open my beat-up messenger bag and place the pouch inside. I hear the shop door close and I look up to see Y/N. She walks over to me and smiles.

"Ready to go?" Y/N questions while smiling.

"Yup." I answer confidently, for once.

Y/N starts walking away and leaves the alleyway. I follow quickly behind her and caught up, walking side by side.

"Wait here, I have to do something." Y/N says, stepping away.

She walks to the shop entrance and knocks on the door. I look at her in confusion until I see something odd happen to the door. A trail of good glitter shines around the lock as she waves her hand over it. She must have used a lock spell to lock and secure the shop. She must be really skilled in magic, even I'm not skilled enough to do that type of magic.

Y/N turns around and smiles. She walks over to me with a skip in her step.

"All done, let's go." She states.
