"You can see it?" "Who is 'she'?" Wendell and I said at the same time. We barely had time to acknowledge that before Gregory answered us. "Of course I can see it and I cannot answer that, Mallory. Listen to me when I tell you this, okay? Do not go anywhere with her. I will not answer why but this isn't the first time you've seen her and I doubt it'll be the last. You will remember, I promise." He held me by my shoulders as he basically lectured me. I don't remember ever seeing him this serious.

Usually he would be the kid who was so energetic, you wish you could blame it on drugs. "How... how do you know?" I asked, slightly fumbling over my words as I was starting to get nervous. "That I will not answer... yet." He smirked and winked at me before he let go of my shoulders and handed the note back to me. I didn't even realize he still had it. He stood up and started walking away. He wasn't terribly far when Wendell yelled "Wait!" and ran to catch up to him.

They were close enough for me to overhear. "Will he be okay?" Wendell asked in a tone I've never heard from him. Why is everyone being so serious? I doubt that what is going on is that serious. "Yes, we just need to stop him this time." Stop... me? From doing what? "And how do we do that?" "Convince him. He'll remember, just do what you can to convince him." That was the last thing either of them said before Gregory walked away and Wendell came back and sat down next to me.
