𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓭𝓪𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓭𝓸𝓷𝓮It's been months since the Cullens left. Not having the southern gentleman and wacky ballerina in my life had turned the world around me dull.
I knew everyone was worried about me and Bella. Her whole life went to a standstill when Edward left, just like mine.
Fall melted into winter. Snow melted into flowers. I couldn't even remember the day or yesterday or the days before. All I remember was the hollow pain where my heart should be and the endless nights of scribbling and ripped papers.
My gaze swept across the paper covered floor, my knees up to my chest as I rest my head against the cool glass window. Spring time in Forks was just like any other season. Rainy, muddy, and foggy.
I watch silently as my hot breath fogs up the window, my fingers absentmindedly drawing a swirling pattern in the mist.
A small screech leaves me as I lock eyes with familiar gold, my breathing picking up as he lifts a hand in greeting. "J-Jasper?"
I reach my hand up, finger tips meeting the cool slick surface before fumbling with the locks on my windows, wind rushing in as I shove it open.
"Jasper!" I call out, leaning out the window with my hand stretched towards him.
He smiled softly up at me before disappearing in a second. How did he do that?
I decided to sit with Bella and her friends today, abandoning the Cullen table and took in the new faces. Some I remember from having classes together.
One particular blonde was glaring at me, making me squirm uncomfortable in my seat as I keep my gaze off of her. My blue eyed gaze meeting the gaze of a perky blonde spiked haired boy.
His grin widened into a smile, a spark of interesting twinkling in his eyes as he offers me his hand, "I'm Mike."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Dorothy," I replied, shaking his hand quickly before my hands fell back into my lap.
"So, Dorothy," the blonde girl from earlier spoke up, saying my name like it was poisonous, "are you with Jasper and Alice?"
My head jerks up faster than I expected, my broken heart murmuring in response to their names.
"I... what do you mean? The Cullens left months ago," I question weakly, my knuckles turning white against my grip on the seat.
"I mean like dating? Couldn't get enough so you got them both?" She sneers, her pretty features turned twisted. Jealousy clear as day on her face.
I felt the blood drain from my face as my eyes widen as I gaze stupidly at her.
"W-What? No... no, they're my best friends... that's.. that's not..." my voice dies off at the end as the burying pain started clawing it's way to my throat.
"That's more than a best friends thing, Dorothy," she snickers, eyes cold as she watches the pain flash across my body in waves.
"Lauren, stop it," Bella finally spoke up warningly, pain clear in her eyes as well.
"What? You can't do anything, you don't do anything," she snaps back.
"Lauren! Jeez, woman! Just shut up!" Mike snaps at her, his voice sharp as he glares at the blonde.
Lauren didn't speak up for the rest of lunch but the look on her face spoke clearly that the conversation was not over.
I peer at the blue eyed broken girl in front of me. Her bushy brown hair in a messy halo around her head, clothes askew on her frame that looked malnourished. Dark shadows under her usually bright gaze that was now clouded with pain and numbness. Who was I? I wasn't me anymore.
I stiffen as the bathroom door opens, my gaze trailing across the mirror to the corn-silk haired girl that just stood in the doorway.
My hands clinch in fear as she shuts and locks the door. What was she doing??
"Why do you and Bella suddenly get all the Cullens? You just showed up!"
I just blink at her reflection in pure confusion, my brain not processing her words quickly.
"There's nothing good about you, nothing but ruined grounds," her voice raised an octave as she crept closer, her hands behind her back.
I just steadily keep my gaze on her, letting her rant her jealous thoughts.
"Lauren, the Cullens left. Drop it. Drop your jealous thoughts," I voice my thoughts out loud as I narrow my eyes at her.
"They left because of you two!" She yells, her voice echoing against the metal stalls.
"What are you gaining from this?" I ask coolly, my temper raising slowly before pain flares at the side of my head.
A soft oof leaves my throat as I fall to the side, her fist still in the air. I blink groggily at the dark dots across my vision and before I can get back up, she sat right on my lower back. Her legs pressing mine down so I can't kick out.
I try to elbow her back, before I feel her grip tightening painfully in my hair. A hiss leaves me at the fire-hot prickles of pain scattered across my scalp.
"Get off!"
The room swirls and darkens around me as I panic, squirming and flailing under her as my breathing picks up.
I dully note the sound of scissors snipping as I just focus on getting out of the shrinking room.
"Now. Now they won't like you," she whispers in my ear before she grabs a fistful of my curls and slams my head into the ground.
I watch helplessly as she gets up from me and walks out, leaving me to pass out on the school bathroom floor with my hair scattered around me. A growing pool of red surrounding my head that swam in my vision and crowded my throat. How did I become so weak? How could I let two people destroy me? Why hadn't I fought back harder?
