Ch.6 Confession

The wind blows against the thin white curtains and brush against the curls of Sage's face. He leans against the rim of the windows and stares outside, at the grand tree that grows beside the school building, older students who walk down the stone paths to the school pass, and the elementary students that run up the school path. Sage takes a deep breath and feels the gentle sunlight against his skin.

Zach will be here any minute, but Sage is scared out of his mind, despite his calm face.

To be truthfully speaking, that night was unexpected. Up until the moment he unlocked Zach's door, he wasn't sure if he really wanted to do this, and for the first time in his life, he didn't think of the consequences the actions might bring.

What if I was wrong? He thinks. What if Zach wasn't into me but was too shocked to stop me? But he knows that is actually the least of his worries.

The question lurked in the back of his mind for the past few days...but the sex felt so much better than one weekend hookups from people who he met online. Perhaps it was that Zach actually knew him, or how he acted within class that added to the excitement. It was also dangerous.

Their school is one for the gifted and the legacies. Anything can be used as a weapon to get your aim. Anything was fair game. Sage is not a legacy or has any particular social value apart from his status in the Student Council, but if Zach decides to take advantage of what Sage did...

There is a click at the door and Zach pokes his head into the room.

"Hey."

"Hi, Zach," Sage smiles, this a practiced one, that he uses for the school, his family, and everything in between.

Zach steadily shuts the door behind him. "I honestly thought that you wouldn't come."

"Why is that?"

"I'm not sure... maybe you were sick of me, or something, I don't know," Zach laughs nervously.

Sage's smile doesn't waver, "So you had something to tell me?"

"Yeah... I do..."

There is a long silence as Zach begins to gather his words although he's already rehearsed this a million times.

"Were you surprised?" Sage asks.

Zach is thrown off. "Um...Well... I was... but..."

"You must be disappointed then..."

"No!" Zach retorts. "Not at all! It doesn't make me think any less of you, I just didn't expect it that's all."

Sage's eyes widen. This is the first time someone was as unfazed when he learned about the dark side of Sage.

"I like you, I really do!" Zach shouts and clenches his eyes shut. He can feel a blush rising from his neck to his ears. "Please go out with me!"

There is a moment of standstill. Only the birds chirping outside and the bell rings a familiar tune, signaling the last of the students to leave.

Sage closes the distance between them and kisses Zach. It is a delicate, cautious one, nothing like what happened that night as if this is Sage's first time.

"Now you're never getting rid of me," Sage whispers as he pulls away.

Zach's heart leaps out the window.

"Now let's get out before it's late. I want to make it home before dark." Sage says and retrieves his book bag from the desk adjacent.

"Give me a moment, I'm going to the lockers," Zach says and runs out of the classroom.

Sage hears Zach yell "I did it!" down the hallway, and laughs, a sincere one, before the tears begin to fall.

Yay we finally got to the confession. Yes I know it's been only 6 chapters, but I'm more interested in the actual dating. More smut coming soon~
