Wei Wuxian :

The day rolled about as the wave of families kept on rolling in the Jiang residence, Jiang Cheng did a great job at keeping up his smile throughout the day. That guy has the temper that always hung by the thread but the last 10 years have changed him. Over that decade he has certainly grown up and has dealt with his anger issues as well but being in this house after so long without anyone else but Jiang Cheng and I was not sitting well with him. Shijie seemed to have been married to the Peacock Jin so this residence was pretty much empty. Jiang Cheng being the successor of the Jiang group had to deal with people personally which he hated but eventually made it through the pleasantries. It was not long before he came up to me and said "I need fresh air and a smoke."

"Well, almost everyone has showed up except the Lans and Nies yet. You can take a quick break." I said, he looked visibly tired. He hid it well but he couldn't hide it from me.

"Tch. The Lan's, huh?" He said, his eyes staring off in a space.

"Well, as long as we are alive, we will cross each other. So, better sooner than later." I said, fully understanding what he meant.

He let out a sigh and said "yeah. You're right. I will take a quick breather and come back, hold out for me will you?"

"I will. Now go." I said.

I was quite relieved that the Lans were not here yet, the families had no designated time as to when they will be showing up which meant this was a whole day event. Both Jiang Cheng and I, we didn't want to face the Lans, especially the twins but it's as though if life was conspiring against us when the another family stepped in, I turned to see the white and blue suit cladded people swarming in lead by the ever two beautiful men, the Twin jades of Lan, named Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen. I froze and hands started to sweat as I saw them walking towards me, my heart was going to jump out of my chest seeing a particular man.

I felt a small squeeze on my hand, I looked to my right to see that Shijie came to calm my nerves. I was the right hand of Jiang Cheng which meant if he wasn't here, I was in command. I let out a breath and looked up proudly, the Lans stood in front of me and offered their respects to me and shijie.

"Young Master Wei and Lady Jiang, we offer our deepest condolences to you and your family for your loss. The Lan family is honoured to attend this meeting." Lan Xichen said, stern, like a leader.

"Director Lan Xichen and Young master Lan Wangji, we are pleased to adorn your presence on this auspicious day. The Jiang family heartily welcomes you and your family." I said, paying my respect to them.

We gave everyone a bow and moved on, I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in. I looked back at a particular Lan and saw his indifferent face.

He is still like that after all this time. I thought.

I closed my eyes for a bit and calmed myself down. Seeing him after all these years still makes me go haywire, just like that first day of school.

Past:-

After the commotion this morning with the Lan brothers, Jiang Cheng, Huaisang and I went to our classes and upon reaching out class we were joined by Song Lan, another one of our friends. We all settled down and everybody already seemed to know somebody which resulted in everyone being in their own circle, just like us. Soon someone came in and everybody's eyes turned, it was Lan Wangji and his friend, Xiao Xing Chen. I saw Lan Wangji this morning and certainly thought that he was an handsome young man but now, he was up close and I was able to see his features even closely. He was neatly dressed in a jeans and a white shirt. His hair was combed back with a few locks hanging on his forehead. He walked gracefully and along with his friend Xiao Xing Chen who walked with the same grace and beauty. These two were certainly the most beautiful pair of men that our class had.

As we all shamelessly gawked at the pair, Lan Wangji's eyes met mine and his crystal clear eyes churned something inside my stomach. His eyes were clear, without any haze and were like a glass. Not being able to take it I turned my eyes from him, I suddenly felt something. It was overwhelming. As they settled on a seat, I tried to look at him again but this time he threw a glare at me. A very angry one. This made me want to tease him, to see what he would act like. So I smiled ear to ear and shouted "Wangji-xiong!" while waving my hand at him. His glare deepend.

"Oi! Are you trying to get killed?!" Jiang Cheng said.

"Oh he's definitely asking for death!" Huaisang said.

"Calm down. He is a human being, he won't eat me up." I said.

"Just look at him. He already looks like he is going to eat you! Just shut the fuck up and sit down!" Jiang Cheng said and pretty much nailed me on my seat.

"Ouch. Fine, I get it. You're all chicken." I said, sadly giving up on the idea.

"Now, Song will you stop blushing like a complete idiot?" Huaisang said.

"H-huh? Y-you're w-w-wrong." I-I am n-not blushing." Song said, stammering. It was clear who had that kind of effect on the usually very confident Song Lan.

Xiao Xing Chen and Song Lan didn't belong to any esteemed organization or family but they had pretty good reputation around the field. They met while they were under the apprenticeship program of the Jins and from then on Song Lan had slowly been drawn to Xing Chen but he had that troublesome boyfriend Xue Yang due to which Song never got to make his move. Xue Yang was quick on making a move on Xing Chen, after 2 months of friendship he pretty much proposed in front of the whole South High and since the High school gossips travelled fast, we got to know about it through word of mouth. Ever since then Song stayed away from Xing Chen but having him in the same class is pretty much going to kill Song.

Sigh. Such troublesome people. I thought.

Soon we were called for the assembly for the opening ceremony. The same old traditions were followed of speeches and pleasantries. After a good 20 minutes, the announcer said "All the first years are requested to change into their uniforms and head to their designated cooking labs. The teacher and the assistant students will guide you through your first day. Thank you and the assembly is dismissed."

"Now we're talking!" I said, excited about the whole day.

"Don't get too excited now. Our first period is with Lan Qiren." Jiang Cheng said.

"Ah. The old man who's stoic as a stone statue." Huaisang said.

"Well, as long as I get to cook, I don't complaint." I said.

We all went up to the changing rooms and changed into our uniforms. I tied up my loose hair in a pony tail and cleaned my look out, my piercings were pretty clear when I tie my hair up.

"Yo, a-cheng, you done?" I asked.

"Give me a minute will you?" He said, buttoning up his top.

I looked for my cap while the other three slow pokes were getting ready. Finally, after 5 minutes, we were walking towards the cooking lab.

"Man! It's been a while since we cooked, all four of us!" I said.

"I just hope that old geezer doesn't give us something too bold, I suck at those kind of dishes. And if I bunk at the very first day, I will be screwed." Huaisang said.

"Knowing Qiren's reputation, it will surely be a French cuisine." Song said.

"That's what happens when you choose the Leverage course, you have to cook all kinds of cuisines. On the brighter side, it does give us an edge when we start working ourselves." Jiang Cheng said in a matter of fact tone.

"Well whatever it is, now that we're here we gotta do it!" I said.

We reached the cooking lab and saw almost everyone from our class there, the lab was swooning over the pretty pair of Lan and Xiao, women especially had their eyes on the young Lan. His uniform was crisp and clean and he looked like a 100 bucks in that uniform.

If that's the vision I can see everyday, I don't mind tolerating Qiren as well.
