A month later and life was looking pretty great for all of us. My house was filled with people that actually cared about me and my kingdom was back to how I remembered it. There was no more pain, no more darkness. It took the citizens awhile to accept the truth but once they did, they accepted me with open arms. They even threw me an inauguration party.

A lot of things were changing but there was a lot that was staying the same as well. I had turned down a royal dresser and hairdresser, telling the council that I really didn’t need them. I did get an allowance for new clothes though which I greatly appreciated and I got the chance to step down as Captain of the guard as well.  I ended up appointing West as Captain and Bryce as second in command, which he was happy with, although neither of them had much to do since I had disbanded the army.  I still got to train and workout but I had less time to look after the army and that was more of a full time job. I was happy to give it up though; I was done with that part of my life. No more would I have to fight people for more than fun, no more keeping up my skills so that I could torture people. If I worked out it was because I wanted to stay in shape, if I threw a knife it was to show Bryce that I wasn’t rusty.

While most of my days were spent righting the wrongs of Dresdin and sending personal apologies to those that I was made to hurt, I still made time to see Bryce and my other friends. Since we had plenty of room, Anne moved in her whole family. Her parents resided in the south wing and her sibling stayed down the hall from her. It took them awhile, but Charlie and Sam also had all of their possessions shipped the first kingdom and they lived down the hall from Bryce and I, although the staff made us move rooms. We were currently residing in the South wing, the room made for whoever the king and queen were.

I remembered this room from when I was a little girl; I use to play in here at night while my parents relaxed after a long day. When they were alive the room was decorated in warm blues and greens. While my uncle stayed here it was mostly black and dark red. Bryce and I however liked something completely different. Although I dressed in black, I didn’t want to stay in a majority dark colored room, it would be entirely too depressing. I also wasn’t used to such luxurious rooms, there were so much more room up here. We also got the room cleaned regularly and our laundry done for us, folded and ironed too, which was just weird. The staff actually greeted me when I saw them in the hallways and they didn’t hesitate to ask me anything. It seemed like I was being respected now which was what I wanted, but more than that they seemed to like me as well. I wasn’t used to having friends or looking forward to getting up everyday.

I was laying in bed with Bryce now. The alarm had gone off about half an hour ago but Bryce had mentioned that the day wouldn’t start without their Queen.

“Just stay here with me.” Bryce wrapped his arms around me tighter and snuggled into my shoulder.

“I can’t I have things to do. I have more apologies to send out today and thank you notes to send to the people who keep giving me gifts. I have no idea why they keep doing that.” I mumbled.

“Because they like you and more importantly they are happy that your uncle is no longer in charge because he was the worst.” We laughed.

“Yea he really was. I’m just happy that they’re accepting of me.”

“I knew they would be, you’ve always been a princess to me, now everyone else sees it to.”

“I guess. I just hope I don’t screw it up.” I closed my eyes, leaning my head against his, “everyone is counting on me now and there’s just so much pressure.”

“Don’t worry, you will do absolutely fine and if not I’ll be right by your side.” He told reassuringly.

I opened my eyes to find him smiling, staring right back at me. He was right, he would always be right by my side. “Will you marry me?”
