Sunburnt Lips

A normal day... Or so we thought...

Keragen's POV:
We went back home and nobody was there. Darian and Stephen weren't here they went to my grandma's house to see her while we were home me and Luke are going over there tomorrow to see her. We are staying the night there too.
" What do you wanna do babe?" Luke asked me.
" You wanna watch a movie or do you wanna go fishing at my uncles house or we can go to see my aunt and uncle and cousin."
" We can go to your aunt and uncles house."
" Okay let's go."
I'm kinda nervous about going to see my aunt and uncle. 1. Because there is no telling what will come outta his mouth. 2. Kyle is always over there. So this should be interesting.
We changed because my aunt hates when I don't "dress like a girl".
I changed into a pair of white American eagle shorts a light blue v- neck shirt and wore my light blue vans. I walked out and luke was wearing a light blue shirt with a picture of a palm tree on it and a pair of white khaki shorts with sandals.
"Luther do you do this on purpose?"
"No... But I like that we match when we get ready."
"We are adorable."
"Nope just you."
We went and got into the Camaro and we left. Luke was driving while I was telling him where to go. When we pulled in I saw a whit Chevy silverado. Oh perfect. Kyle is here.
" Are you sure you are ready for this?"
"Yes. Let's go."
We walked into the garage passed my uncles car that he built and then passed the four wheelers and into the door.
" Keragen!" I heard my little cousin say running to there door as soon as I walked into the door.
"Hey zayden!" I said picking him up.
" Hey uncle Ken and aunt Mary Lou."
" Hey sweetie." Ken said giving me a hug.
" Hey Keragen." Aunt Mary Lou said not moving. We don't really get along that well.
"Guys this is my boyfriend Thomas Luther Bryan but he goes by Luke."
"Hi luke." Zayden said hugging Luke's leg.
"Hey little guy." Luke said picking zayden up.
" Who's truck is outside?" I asked hoping uncle Ken got a new one.
" Oh. Kyle is here he was picking up what zayden got out before he ran out here to see you." Mary Lou said rolling her eyes. I don't understand how uncle ken deals with her.
"Zayden where did you g..." Kyle came from the back saying but stopped as soon as he saw me.
" Hey Keragen."
"Hey."
" Keragen what's wrong I thought you liked Ky-ky?" zayden asked me.
" Not anymore buddy. Now I like Luke. You like Luke too right?"
"Yeah he said I could go fishing with you guys today."
"Are you guys okay with that?" I asked ken and Mary Lou.
" Yeah I don't care." Ken said."but I wanna talk with you Luke and Kyle in the other living room."
We all 3 walked into the living room. Luke sat down in the chair and I went to go sit on the couch beside the chair but Luke grabbed my arm and pulled me into his lap. Kyle walked in and saw us and it looked like he was jealous. Oh well he did this to himself. Uncle ken walked in and say down in the other chair and Kyle sat on the couch. " Okay guys. I hate how awkward It is between you two and Kyle. What even happened between you and Kyle?"
" Um let's see he lied to me and said he would be at my graduation but he didn't show up. I didn't get a text a call or anything. Before my party me and Stephen went to the mall to get stuff for the party and I saw him at the mall with some girl and I broke up with him."
" Kyle what the hell why would you do that?"
" Because I didn't wanna hurt her."
" Kyle you did hurt me. I would rather you break up with me than cheat on me. I went through depression because of you . You didn't wanna hurt me really. you did hurt me Kyle." I yelled at him.
" I didn't wanna break up with you though."
"Then why in the hell did you cheat on me?"
" Because I knew you wouldn't help with anything. you only thought about yourself when we were together."
" Really Kyle I only cared about myself. Who was there for you when your dad died? Who was there for you when your sister moved to California and you missed her? Who was there when you got in the wreck? I was by your side in the hospital all through that right by your side I missed 2 whole months of school to be by your side. What did you ever do to me? Oh that's right you didn't do shit for me. When my grandpa died where were you? Oh that's right you were out with friends. When I was there for you for everything you went through you weren't there for me at all you only cared if I was there when you needed me the most and now I am finally seeing it and I am so glad that I finally broke up with your ass because if I was still dating you I would be wasting my time and thank god I finally found it out sooner than later."
"Keragen... You don't mean that."
" I meant that more than I have anything else I ever said. Kyle you weren't even there on my graduation day. You weren't there when we won our state championship game. Kyle the biggest moments of my high school career you let me down and didn't even care. I did so much for you and asked so little from you and you could even give me the little that I did ask for. Why would you do that to me?"
" I don't know all that I know is I miss you and I wish I could go back and redo everything."
" Well guess what you can't and even if you could I would never date you again. I am so glad I met Luke he has been there for me when I needed him unlike you. And he isn't a self centered asshole like you."
Me and Luke walked out of the living room and told zayden that we would come get him tomorrow."
We left and started driving home about halfway home I got a call from my mom.
Phone convo
K- hey mom.
M- Keragen I gotta tell you something.
K- what is something wrong?
M- Keragen, Dustin was just in a car wreck and he didn't make it.
I dropped my phone and started crying.
"Babe what's wrong?"
" Dustin got in a car wreck."
" Is he okay?"
" he died."
" oh my god babe. I am so sorry I understand what you are going through. My brother died In a car accident too."
We went home and everybody was already there. Everybody was in the living room crying. I didn't feel like talking to anybody so I walked down stairs to my room and laid on my bed face down in a pillow. I screamed into it. Luke cane over and started hugging me.
" Why? why does this happen?"
" I don't know babe but you just gotta remember God picks his favorite flowers first."
" Luke what did he do to deserve this. He didn't even get to meet his own kid. He was so excited. He was supposed to be there for me when I don't know what to do he was my best friend and now he is gone. He was supposed to see me play my first college softball game. he promised me he wouldn't miss it and now he can't see them. Luke what do I do?"
" Babe I don't know but I wrote a song about my brother when he died. Do you wanna hear it?"
" Please"
I grabbed my guitar and started playing the song.

" When I got the news today I didn't know what to say. So I just hung up the phone. Took a walk to clear my head. This where the walking lead. Can't believe your really gone don't feel like going home. So I'm gonna sit right here on the edge of this pier and watch the sunset disappear and drink a beer. Funny how the good ones go, too soon but the good lord knows the reasons why I guess. Sometimes a greater plan is kinda hard to understand. Right now it don't make sense I can't make it all make sense. So I'm gonna sit right here on the edge of this pier and drink a beer. So long my friend till we meet again. I'll remember you and all the times that we used to. Sit right here on the edge of this pier and watch the sunset disappear and drink a beer. Drink a beer."
By the time he was done singin I was crying really hard. I miss him so much already.
" Luke that was amazing."
" Thanks."
" Do you wanna just lay in here and cuddle for the rest of the day?"
"Yeah."
" Do you wanna tell me a story about you and Dustin? That helped me when Chris died."
"Sure. when I was little me and Stephen would always mess with dustin and he would get mad at us but everytime he got mad at us and tried to yell at us we would say sorry and then he would be happy again. But one time we went too far and sorry didn't fix it and Dustin didn't talk to us for 1 day and Stephen started crying because everytime Stephen or me would try to talk to him he would just ignore us so when Dustin fell asleep on the couch I went and laid on his chest and kept poking his nose saying 'quit being mad at us Bubby we love you quit being a butt' he woke up smiling and gave me a hug. I'm going to miss him so much." We decided we needed to sleep and right before we were about to go change and go to sleep Stephen came down and gave me the biggest hug ever and I couldn't hold it in so I started crying which made him cry Darian started crying and then luke started crying. " I love you guys."
We all finally went to sleep crying ourselves to sleep.
