Promise

Chapter Ten

All the boys were looking at Mammon.

“Nothing happens. We just went shopping, eat then play on the claw machine.” Mammon simply said and looked at the shade Duchess bought.

Suddenly, Asmo spoke out of nowhere.

“I was just wandering... How come Duchess have so much money? Does she have a night job?” Asmo said while looking at his nails.
“I bet she has. Look at this. It's freaking expensive.” Mammon said and showed them the shades.
“Asmo! Mammon!” Lucifer interrupted while looking at Lilith.
“Sorry, I was just wandering. She also wanted to get a house after her house burned. So I was thinking, she might have a rich boyfriend or something.” Asmo continued.

Everyone looked confused.

“Dechi!” Lilith suddenly shouted.

The boys looked at the hallway and saw Duchess standing. They were all shocked.

“How long have you been there?” Lucifer asked.

But Duchess was not answering and walked towards them. She then grabbed a glass of water and was about to head back to her room.

“By the way, yes I do have money but not because I have rich boyfriend. I have money because my parents left me with it.” she said and walked away.

Everyone was quiet.

Lucifer followed Duchess to her room.

“Duchess, do you have a minute?” Lucifer said.
“Uh? Sure?” Duchess answered.
“Sorry about Asmo and Mammon. They were just...” Lucifer was about to explain when Duchess cut him off
“It's okay. I'm used to being judged. I have to sleep now.” Duchess said with a cold voice and closed the door.

It was Monday morning, Duchess woke up early and prepared herself. She wore her uniform and carried her bag.

'I have to go.' Duchess thought.

She then walked out of the room. She went down the stairs suddenly someone called her name.

“Duchess.” she then turned around and saw Lucifer looking at her direction.
“Yikes.” she said
“Where are you going?” Lucifer said.
“To the school... I need to borrow some books. So I have to go.” Duchess said and walked out the house.

She started walking towards their school.

'Am I that rude?' she thought as she remembered how she walked out not waiting for Lucifer's reply.

She shook her head and continued walking.

“I should apologize later.” she said and entered the school gate.

She walked to the hallway towards the library when a group of girls appeared in front of her.

'Not again.' she thought and looked down l.

She was about to pass the girls when one of them pushed her.

“Aaahhh!” she yelled and was about to slam to the floor when someone grabbed her.
“That's very rude of you.” he said and helped Duchess to stand up.

The girls then ran and glared at her once more.

“I... Thank you.” Duchess said and fixed her uniform.
“Are you okay?” the guy asked and Duchess just simply nodded.
“Where are you going anyways?” the guy asked.
“To the library.” Duchess simply said.
“Can I join you?” he asked again.

Duchess was about to answer when someone interrupted.

“You! Stay away from her.” she heard the voice and recognized it.
“Mammon, that's unusual. You're early today.” the guy said and smiled.
“Shut up, Michael. And you!” Mammon said and looked at Duchess.
“What the big idea talking to him?” Mammon asked with irritated tone.

Duchess was about to answer when Mammon grabbed her hand and dragged her away from Michael.
