Madelyn awoke at the expense of her brother, Pin's, constant pestering. Madelyn sighed, she got up and had a shower then got into her Holloway uniform. The girl brushed her hair into a low ponytail before she headed into the kitchen. "Morning," she said, directed towards her father and brother. They responded happily. After breakfast, Madelyn saddled up Dexter- her 16.2hh Irish Sports Horse white gelding. Madelyn got on, trailing to Holloway.

Madelyn arrived about 5 minutes before their cross country lesson- spotting Gaby already in the field warming up. The girl squeezed Dexter into a trot towards the field. She warmed up with the other rides before the all waited for their trainer. Callum turned to Madelyn, "So, Giggles, hows life?" He questioned. Madelyn  let out a small laugh, Callum and her had been friends since they were little. He had nicknamed her Giggles after realising how easy it was to get her to laugh. "It's good, how about you?" Madelyn responded although before Callum had the chance to respond, their trainer- Henry, was in the arena. Henry assured their horses were warmed up before continuing with the lesson.

After the lesson, Madelyn was unsaddling her horse when Callum approached her, "So I know you have a overprotective brother and all but there's a beach party tonight with Bright Fields, might be fun." Callum said before walking off. Gaby walked over, "You and Callum huh?" She suggestively questioned, raising her eyebrows. "Of course not! You know I'm only friends with him." Madelyn said defensively, causing Gaby to laugh more. "So, you going to the beach party tonight?" Gaby questioned. Madelyn nodded, "If Pin lets me anyway."

Madelyn wore a pair of denim shorts and a white tank. She left her hair out, realising she didn't have the time to straighten it- she rushed out of her room. Only to be greeted by Pin at the door, "where do you think you're going?" He questioned. "Beach party, you're invited aren't you?" Madelyn answered. Pin rolled his eyes, knowing she'd eventually get her way. He ran upstairs and quickly got changed before coming back down- saddling up his chestnut gelding, Elvis, whilst Madelyn got on Dexter bareback.

When they reached the beach, Madelyn's eyes landed on the bright fields team. She noted a tall boy, about 6'2 chatting with Mia and Susie-friends of hers. Madelyn tied Dexter up before walking over to see Mia and Susie. "Hey Susie, hey Mia." Madelyn said, noting the boy was even more attractive up close, he had short brown hair and green eyes. "I'm Marcus Greenbridge," the boy said- before Mia and Susie could say anything. "Madelyn Hawthorne." Madelyn responded, giving off a bright smile. Susie and Mia excused themselves as they went to talk to the other riders around. "You're Pin's sister?" Marcus questioned, Madelyn nodded. "That's me." She gave a slight laugh. Marcus smiled before his eyes focused else where. Callum came up beside Madelyn, putting his arm around her shoulders. "See you met Giggles, Marcus." Callum spoke calmly. "Yep, so you train with Holloway?" Marcus questioned. "Well, I grew up with all of the students so I thought it was better than not knowing anyone." Madelyn explained. Marcus gave a nod. Eventually, they said goodbye and wondered off to different areas.

Soon, Gabby called a game of Truth and Dare. Maddie could tell the girl was up to something, maddie and her were close but Madelyn thought sometimes she could get a little too obsessive.

"Truth," Mia's voice gently responded. "Are Firefly's hooves really that clean or do you oil them?" Susie questioned. Callum gently had his arm wrapped around Susie- they had started to get close, his focus remaining on Maddie though, which Mia had noticed. Mia scoffed, "Okay, fine, I oil them. Sue me." Mia responded. "I knew it, honestly, no ones hooves are that sparkly. Right, Maddie?" Susie tried to include her other friend, seeing that Madelyn had be kind of pushed away. "Yeah, you're right Susie." Maddie responded, sending a smile in Susie's direction. "Your turn, Mia." Susie commented. "Um, Zoe, truth or dare?" Mia questioned, seeming upset by something. Zoe looked at the girl, "Truth, always." Zoe responded. "Have you ever been getting towards being someone but also being like you're in love with someone else?" Mia questioned. Zoe thought, Gabby looked in her direction. "Seems a bit like that Pin, you and Marcus thing." Gabby commented. Before Zoe turned her attention to Mia, "No." Zoe commented.

Zoe then looked to Maddie, "Truth or Dare?" Zoe questioned. "Truth." Madelyn responded. "Do you think you're a better rider than everyone at bright fields?" Zoe questioned. With the entire bright fields team staring her down and Callum telling her to just tell them the truth, that she was. But Madelyn knew she wasn't. "I dunno. Let's have a race. Your best rider against me." Maddie challenged. Marcus reluctantly stood up, heading to Monty as Maddie got on Dexter.

They lined up, Callum counted them down before they took off. Marcus had the lead most of the way, but eventually, the chunky quarter horse found another gear and tore down the path on the way back. Her and Marcus arrived at the finish line, having a bit of time before they arrived. "Not bad, Holloway." Marcus stated. Madelyn gave a small smile, she hated proving Holloway right. "Are you alright?" Marcus questioned, gently raising his hand to the girls cheek. "I'm fine, just, I wanted bright fields to win. Holloway is too up themselves, they win everything. Even if I had to be the one to let them down." Maddie commented. Marcus stared at her for a minute, progressing what she had said. "It's not about Holloway is it?" Marcus questioned. "It's about Susie and Callum you're taking your anger out on winning something." Marcus stated. Maddie knew it was true. "No it's not." Maddie stubbornly responded. "Yes it is." Marcus commented. "No it's not, I have zero feelings for him." Maddie quickly replied. "Prove it." Marcus challenged. And that, was when the tall dark haired boy was taken aback by the brunettes soft lips making contact with his chapped ones. There was a spark. He gently wrapped his arms around her waist.

Marcus and Madelyn where broken apart when gasps erupted around them. Callum glared at Marcus, looking as if he wanted to rip him to shreds. Pin didn't look too upset, probably thought it would keep Zoe away from Marcus. Madelyn embarrassedly hurried away, getting on Dexter and cantering off.
