Kumar

"Muna, who are these people?"

"I don't know Fiq."

The room whirled while they spoke. I pinched my thigh in an effort to focus on what stayed constant. That one thing, Muna's and Fiq's faces. Their black outlines grew in size, coming together to form a colossal serpentine beast. I lifted my arms in a desperate plea, as the creature brought down its pointed fangs.

"No." I screamed."

"Kumar, what the hell are you doing?" Exclaimed a distorted voice.

I blinked, to witness the fight already begun. Muna and Damian were circling the foosball table while behind two sets of footsteps raced downstairs like drum sticks to sneers. My body laid dazed, leaning on the bannister for support.

"What happened?" A sudden pain gripped my forehead.

"Fiq, rushed pas- Slamming you with the dartboar- Koju chased after." Damian's explanation was cut short by Muna's flabby swipes.

"I don't you where you came from." Slurped Muna, his tone corrosive. "But you devils cannot stop us."

Crimson seeped out my mask onto my black glove, its tightness making the sting worsen. My head bobbed, forcing hands to hold it upright. Behind his mask, Damian's lips flailed once more, yet the words faded into murmurs. He pointed a finger at me, then at my feet. After that, continued to play chicken with a giant.

Pins jerked my limping leg. I squinted, trying to separate shadowy wisps from reality. Shattered glass emanating from downstairs.

If only Koju was here now.

Those words desperately rang true now. Damian's situation flipped on its head. With a powerful shove, Muna thrust the table aside. Leaving nothing between him and Damian. Muna's belly jiggled as he approached, his stalk electrified the air, erecting hairs on my body with his intent to kill. Damian took step after step backwards until the podium cut him off. That's when Muna lunged. Hands outstretched like claws, his momentum a deadly combination.

"Move you fool." I shouted.

But he stared blankly. The shadow of that mountain already overcast. I turned away from the future burial ground. My eyelids almost shut but stopped at the sight of a smirk. Damian spun on the ball of his right foot and arms disappeared. The call came. A defiant shout.

"Kumar."

This man's gone mad.

The fog cleared whilst I rushed to his side. Limbs seizing under the crushing weight. In synchronised fashion, we threw Muna in a spiral through the air. His mammoth size rotated three hundred and sixty degrees, speed now working against him. The collision with the floor was inevitable. I savoured his look of distraught. But not as much as the crunch of flab against cheap wood. Splinters flew in every direction, even the building wobbled slightly. Breathless, we dropped to the floor. Warm sweat soaking my mask as I peeled it off. Damian did the same.

"You're out of your mind."

"I just did what you taught me." He panted.

Lining this image of Damian against our first encounter heated my scalp. One a monster, the other, guy like me. It lit up my fears to inspection. I sucked in a breath of meat stained air and mumbled out my running thought.

"Hey Damian, I apologise for being a what do call it, dickhead? It's just.... I remember that day so vividly. You were laughing hysterically while the class burnt around you. I don't believe in such things but you resembled a demon. And watching you walk around the school as if nothing happened. It..., it scared me."

Damian hung his head, a pained smile streaking his face.

"I guess that normal life is over."

I clasped my palm on his shoulder.

"Maybe so, but you're good with me."

We hit our fists against the other and watched Koju haul his man up the stairs.

"Glad to you two have worked things out." He bellowed, tossing Fiq's mass to the ground.

The man's face was bloodied and bruised purple, black and blue. One arm was definitely facing the wrong direction. And every so often, he made the faintest whistling noise. I cringed at the thought of what Koju did.

"What about your man?" Boomed Koju.

"See for yourse-." Damian gleeful stuttered.

Our faces contorted at the sight of a ring of shattered wood. At its centre nothing but carpet. We faced the other, brows creased, hearing the same thought.

Where the fuck is Fiq?

It didn't take long for an answer. He burst out the storage room, this time a black vest strapped to his chest. Red, blue and white poked, split and wound at different parts. A single cord knotted at the end hung by the side. My blood went cold. Their plan for me had I not escaped.

"Let's get this party started." He snarled.
