Crossing The Ice

My hero?

I scream as Kyle pushed Jay's friend against the wall.

He was punching him and had this scary look in his eyes. It was wild and almost animal like.

I turn away and run down the stairs stumbling as I go.

I need to find Liz I think to myself.

I find her dancing with Jay as I feel tears starting to form in my eyes.

She sees me and whispers something to Jay as she walks over to me.

She grabs my arm and pulls us outside.

Once we are outside she looks at me with concern and says "My love what happened? Who do I need to kill?"

I try to get the words out "Jay's friend... tried... Kyle....wild...."

She looks at me confused "So do I need to kill one or both of them?"

I take a deep breath "Jay's friend tried to hurt me. Kyle saved me?"

Liz nods her head looking like a cat ready to pounce "What's his friends name?"

"Michael." I manage to get out.

She turns around to head back inside but I grab her arm and shake my head.

"I don't need to cause anymore trouble. I know you want to pounce but can we go home?"

"Sigh okay babe but he will pay for what he did to you."

I giggle for the first time that night "Keep the cat in the cage for right now."

She nods her head and links her arm with mine "Let's get you home."

I stumble and start to feel dizzy again.

I groan and feel my head "Liz I don't think I can walk." I say

She looks at me "Give me one sec. Stay here."

A few minutes later she comes with Kyle.

He grabs and lifts me up in bridal style taking me to Liz's car.

I look at him curiously and he smirks at me.

I groan "Oh the asshole my hero."

He grins "Still drunk you have an attitude"

I roll my eyes as he lays me down in the back of Liz's car.

He gets in the passanger seat as Liz drives us to my house.

Once we arrive he lifts me up in bridal style and carries me inside as Liz unlocks the door with my key.

I snuggle into him suddenly feeling sleepy as he groans "Ufff Madeline how much do you eat. You weigh more than you look."

I whack him in the arm and snuggle back into him.

He follows Liz upstairs into my room and lays me on my bed.

I hear Liz shoving him out the door saying something about privacy and that she needs to get me into something more comfortable.

I grin loving having a best friend like her.

I feel her sit me up as she takes off my dress.

I open my eyes and smile as she hands me a pair of gray sweatpants and a purple tank top.

She helps me put them on and I lay back down snuggling into bed.

Liz opens the door and I hear her and Kyle arguing about who should stay.

"I'm not letting you stay with my best friend. Who knows what you will try to do while she's in this vulnerable stage."

I hear Kyle huff "Seriously I just saved her from this asshole who almost raped her. If there wasn't someone who was there for her it was you."

Liz gasps "How was I supposed to know that would happen?"

"Psh I don't know lucky I was there at the right time. While I don't know you were dancing with the guy's loser friend on the dance floor."

Liz groans "Why I oughta"

Kyle interrupts her "Go yes I agree you should go. You are of no protection or help to Madeline right now."

She huffs not bothering to argue anymore "I'll have you know I am a black belt in karate."

Kyle laughs "Oh I'm soooo scared."

I hear Liz swing Kyle around and I look up as she has him pinned against the wall.

I laugh silently but groan as they continue to argue.

"oh my God can you two stop. I just want to sleep. How about this one sleep in the guest room and one sleep on the floor in here. My personal bodyguards. Liz  you in here Kyle guest room now."

They both obliged and I snuggled into my bed slowly drifting off to sleep.

Suddenly I hear my bed shift and look up to see Kyle getting in my bed.

I glared at him "What do you think you are doing?"

He grins "The best way I can protect you is to be right near you. No arguing princess."

I sigh too tired to argue "Fine but stay on your side."

He lays down and snuggles into the covers next to me as we drift off to sleep.
