1 year later.

Gabriel kissed my neck softly, just like he did every morning to wake me up. I turned over and snuggled into his warm chest.

“We need to get up baby. It's a big day” He whispered.

“five more minutes.” I groaned.

“Five more minutes of your naked body rubbing against mine will mean a hour of passion.”

“You think very highly of yourself” I chuckled,i flickered my eyes open and kissed Gabriel gently on the lips. He returned the kiss, and through caution to the wind. I had only meant to give him a peck, but we both knew that would never have been enough. His lips trailed along my neck, where they had been a few minutes earlier, only this time it didn't just wake me up it set my skin on fire.

“We have to get up. The wedding is in two hours and you need to be at your moms in half an hour.” Gabriel whispered. “This is your last chance Juni.”

I groaned loudly and shifted away from Gabriel's warmth. “You're a tease”

“Good things come to those who wait.”

“You know I'm not a very patient girl Gabe.”

“I know” He chuckled. “and I thrive on that.”

“You're mean. Well maybe I'll just come home and go to sleep weddings are hard work you know.”

Gabriel shrugged, then leaned over and kissed me on the nose.

“As you wish babe.”

I frowned and sat up. He was right after all. I needed to be at Mom's in half an hour to get my hair and make up done. My dress was there too, hanging in my old room. Waiting for me to wear it.

I'd been excited for this for almost 6 months, feeling frisky right now was ideal.

“You think you can find your way to the hotel room to get ready with my father?”

“Yes, he's sending a cab for me soon. I'd better have a shower actually.”

“Don't lead him astray.... save the celebratory shots for after the ceremony... okay?” I laughed.

My father and Gabriel had hit it off. In fact, they'd become good friends. It kind of helped heal the relationship between my father and our family.... which is how we got to this day.

“Alright. Well I'm going to head to Mom's now. See you at the end of the aisle.” I stood up to face Gabriel, i picked my satin dressing robe and pulled it on over my naked body. Gabriel let out an exasperated moan. “Whose the tease now?” He mumbled sitting up grabbing his jeans off the floor.

“Two can play at the teasing game.” I replied. “I'd say we're even. For now.”

Gabriel stood up and pulled his jeans on. He walked around the bed to me and slid his hands underneath my robe. “You didn't just tease me babe. You outright kicked me in the groin. I'm going to be walking around all day wanting to steal you away from the crowd so I can have my wicked way with you.”

I chuckled and stepped backwards.

“You thrive on my impatience. I thrive on your anticipation... It's a vicious cycle.”

I walked over to the wardrobe and grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. It took me less than 10 minutes to get dressed. I drove to Mom's and arrived right on time.

“Juni!” Elle shrieked as she ran from the doorstep as I arrived. I walked up the path and we met halfway. “Can you believe it? Who'd have thought a year ago that this would happen.”

I smiled and shook my head. “Definitely not me.”

“Let's go. Mom is upstairs waiting.”

I nodded and hooked my arm through Elles.

We made it upstairs to find the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses hanging up a rack. Mom looked up at Elle and I as we walked in the room.

“Oh good you're here. Sit down and we'll get your make up done.”

She pushed me down into a chair and called over the makeup artist. It was nice to see the fire back in Moms eyes. “Make sure you give her a hint of aqua, to bring out the intensity of her eyes.” She bossed the make up artist around, but I smiled and closed my eyes regardless.

We left the house an hour later and drove to the vineyard where the wedding was being held. The grooms car was there, and I took a long slow deep breath. This was it.

We hopped out of the car and walked toward the isle.

“Ready?” Mom whispered.

Elle and I nodded. We looped our arms through Mom's. Her white dress flowing in the soft wind. Her eyes were focused solely on my fathers as she took one step after another toward my father, who stood at the end look as nervous as I imagined he had the first time around.

Sneaky tears filled my eyes, the emotion of seeing my parents reaffirm their love for one another after what had seemed such a heartbreaking time.

It had been a long process, one that had succeeded mainly because Dad had taken his own advice and tried. He'd talked to Mom for many nights on the phone, just like they had when they first met. Over time they fell in love all over again.

I looked over at Gabriel, he stood next to my father, smiling widely, his eyes focused on me. I wasn't sure how I'd even let myself doubt that he loved me. It was obvious, it was written in his eyes and tattooed on his heart. He mouthed “I love you” Then looked back at my mother as she reached my father.
Elle and I stood to the side and the ceremony began. It was hard to keep my emotions under wraps, after all, it was everyday you got to see your parents get married.

After the “I do's” we retreated to the hall on the vineyard for the reception. Gabriel and I were on the dance floor, moving around the floor like there was nothing between us and only air underneath us.

“When we get married, can we do it here?” Gabriel whispered. “It's so beautiful.”

When?

“I fully intend on making you Mrs Cardenas, the sooner the better” He murmured. “I'm getting old you know.”

“You're 29.”

“marry me before I'm 30.”

“If you behave” I teased.

“Deal.”

“I love you Gabriel. I'm so grateful every day that you didn't give up. You kept trying.”

“I love you too. I'd be still trying to this day if you hadn’t taken me back you know.”

I laughed and kissed him on the lips. “That's a little obsessive don't you think?”

“You said it, I've been obsessed over you since the very beginning.”

“Gabriel...” I whispered leaning in.

“mmmhmmm?”

“Let's elope.”
