NICOLE'S POV

I gently opened my eyes, but as soon as I looked at my surroundings, panic rose through my veins as I sat upright. I was locked in a glass room. And outside the glass room was a really dark room with two ropes hanging from the ceiling.

My heart beat vigorously as I tried to open the glass door but to no avail. "Help!" I yelled, while pounding on the glass door.

Just then, the door leading to the dark room was kicked open and I jumped in fright. I gasped when I saw who walked into the room.

My parents.

Tears were rolling down my mother's face, but when she looked at me, her face lit up, but instantly, her head was hung low again. My father looked at me with a faint smile, before they followed Josh.

I was happy, but at the same time, worried.

I was really happy to see my parents' face again. I love them so much.

But, the fact that they were following Josh worried me.

What would he do to them?

Did Josh finally give up and agree to let me go?

My hopes drowned into the drain as Josh tied the ropes which were hanging on the ceiling onto my parents neck. My eyes widened and my heart felt like it was going to explode.

I banged the front door, trying to open it but to no avail.

"Dearie," a voice sounded throughout the glass room. I turned and looked at Josh who was in the dark room. He continued," its too late. No matter how hard you bang that door, it's not gonna open. And now," he let out a wicked laugh," it's time for you to witness your parents death." He smirked.

Hot tears streamed down my face as I screamed, "NOOOO!"

Below the ropes, there's a red button. Once Josh presses that, everything will be over. My heart sank as I banged onto the glass wall.

I sobbed as I looked at my parents. Tears were streaming continuously down their faces and I couldn't bear it.

Josh looked at me with an evil smirk, and then turned back to my parents. His fingers were on top of the buttons, mere inches away before my parents would be gone.

"STOPP!" I yelled at the top of my voice but I knew that, no matter how loud I screamed, or no matter how many times I tried to open the door, it was never gonna happen.

My parents will lose their lives.

Because of me.

Because I was stupid enough to take that shortcut.

That I was so gullible to trust Beth.

This was all my fault.

Guilt and panic rushed through my veins as I sobbed harder.

Josh was just a centimeter away from the button. And he occasionally turned back to look at me with a smirk.

I placed my hands on the glass wall as I looked at my parents for the last time.

Just when Josh is about to press the button, someone interrupted him.

The door leading to the dark room was kicked open and there stood Ben and Beth.

Josh flinched and pulled away from the buttons at the loud noice.

His face turned red with anger as he glared at both of them. "WHAT THE H..." He screamed, but before he could continue, Ben pinned him to the ground and they started fighting.

Beth ran towards the glass room as she took out a pair of keys, before unlocking the door. Without a second to lose, I rushed out of the room as quick as possible.

I ran to my parents and untied the ropes tied around my mother's neck before untying my father's rope. Right after I untied, a gun shot filled the room. I flinched as I turned around. I gasped and tears sprang to my eyes as I looked at Ben's lifeless body on the ground, as blood oozed out of his forehead.

"You're really brave, aren't you?" Josh snarled at me, his face looking as terrifying as ever. I gulped as he pointed the gun towards me. My heart palpitated as my breath hitched.

I was going to die.

I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact.

But that time never came.

I immediately opened my eyes again as I heard another gun shot. Josh clutched his chest, before falling on his knees. And finally, he fell to the ground. Beth threw the gun on the floor as I rushed to give her a hug.i sobbed and cried onto her shoulder.

Then,I turned around and gave my parents a long hug.

As I turned to my right and caught sight of Ben's lifeless body, my heart sank. He's my brother......

My father walked over to Ben as he frowned, but his eyes filled with tears again once he saw the star birthmark on Ben's wrist. He gasped as Realisation came to him. "Kate..."my father looked at my mum.

She walked over to Ben and he started sobbing, crying onto my father's chest as he hugged her.

At the sight of this,I felt numb. I fell to my knees. Fresh tears sprung into my eyes again.

I felt like I was gonna run out of tears.

Then, I heard the sirens of the police men and the ambulance. My parents, Beth and I went outside into the jungle as I took one last look at Ben. I sighed as we all went out.

The paramedics came out, carrying body bags as my family started crying, including Beth.

I knew that we were all safe, but..

Why didn't I feel that way?
