Secrekeeper headed off to the library, away from the ocean side.
Morrowseer had terrified her. He was like a mix of her parents but actually caring. He had Secretkeeper's mother's temper but her father's calculating eyes. It scared her.
Secretkeeper wasn't terrified of a lot of thing but her parents were a big one. Treasurekeeper didn't terrify her. It was just the thought of accidentally letting Secrekeeper's hidden anger go and she hurt anyone in her family, even Treasurekeeper. She may not love them but she cared for them like family should. She would die for them, no matter how awful they are to her.
Why? Because NightWings are mean and cruel and Secretkeeper believed they needed some humbling to truly become the best tribe. She believed if she sacrificed herself for them, they'd feel guilt and that would remind them to be dragons again. To love and care.
Dreamcatcher was the only one who had made Secretkeeper feel wanted, no matter what. She reminded Secretkeeper that while her family was terrible, there was worse and she should be lucky to have any family.
Dreamcatcher was also the one who stopped Secretkeeper from thinking she needed to harm herself. Secretkeeper still has the cuts on her palm where she hurt herself. She used the pain as a way to escape, as relief. It quickly had become an unhealthy habit and Dreamcatcher put a stop to it. She said for every cut Secretkeeper gave herself, Dreamcatcher would give herself one of her own. Secrekeeper was terrified she would harm Dreamcatcher, so she stopped.
Ever since, Dreamcatcher checks her palms for cuts and Secretkeeper appreciated it. It could have gotten worse but Dreamcatcher stopped it. Dreamcatcher told Secretkeeper to vent on her and Secrekeeper did. Soon, they knew more about each other than any dragon knew about them. Then they had started to date.
Secretkeeper owed Dreamcatcher her life ten times over. Perhaps even more than that. Dreamcatcher was they reason Secretkeeper was alive, happy, and still fighting.
So Secretkeeper figured she owed it to Dreamcatcher to figure out who had made her so upset.
She landed at the entrance to the library and Mastermind ran out to greet her.
"You haven't been to the library in AGES!" he exclaimed, hugging her.
"It's been three days. Besides, I'm sure Farsight kept you company," Secretkeeper retorted, rolling her eyes. Thankfully, he couldn't see her.
He let her go and walked back in the library. She followed him in and Farsight looked over the balcony and gave Secretkeeper the eye. Secretkeeper shot a look back at her and Farsight turned around and got back to organizing.
"Yeah, well, I had something I wanted to ask you," he stated with a little bit of excitement in his voice.
"Same. I was wondering if you had seen Wishful at all lately," Secretkeeper asked, trying to avoid whatever he was about to ask.
Mastermind looked at her and said, "Oh... Wishful, hm. Farsight, an ideas?"
"I saw her in here a few days ago with Dreamcatcher. I joined them on some girly talk and they both needed some books for school. After that, I saw Dreamcatcher return both books yesterday. She was looking for Wishful as well," Farsight answered.
That didn't sound right. Wishful and Dreamcatcher got along fairly well but she didn't know they had been hanging out without her. Wishful and Farsight were in Secretkeeper's class and they were her friends. Dreamcatcher had her own friends. Secretkeeper didn't mind, it was just strange. Dreamcatcher only hung out with Secretkeeper's friends if necessary.
"Anyway," Mastermind claimed. "I actually can find out for you."
"Oh, that would be wonderful," Secretkeeper stated awkwardly. "Is there something you want in return."
Mastermind get a little closer to her and Secretkeeper backed away. He looked disappointed.
He answered, "Only for you to go on date with me."
Oh bother!
"Why... why don't you, uh... take Farsight out... you see, I, uh..." Secretkeeper stumbled. She couldn't reveal her girlfriend.
"Ohhhh! Who are you dating, Secretkeeper?" Farsight exclaimed, leaning over the balcony.
Mastermind and Farsight looked at her with great intensity. She wasn't sure what to say without revealing her girlfriend. WAIT! This is what Morrowseer was meant for.
"I, uh, am dating... Morrowseer," Secretkeeper stated.
Mastermind and Farsight were dead silent. Then Farsight exploded, "MORROWSEER?! You could do SO much better than that crabby old toad!"
Secretkeeper was silent. Farsight was right, she could do so much better if she was actually looking for a male dragon. But she wasn't and she was only dating him until he found Wishful.
"I know. I was going to... break up with him whenever I work up the courage," Secretkeeper quickly claimed.
Farsight laughed, "If you need help, which you will, I'm always available."
"Or I can help. You can dump him and date me," Mastermind offered.
Secretkeeper panicked. What to do, what to do. She doesn't want to date Mastermind or Morrowseer. She wanted Dreamcatcher.
Farsight liked Mastermind, Mastermind liked her, and she like Dreamcatcher. The Morrowseer just had to enter the mix.
"I... I can handle it. I don't really want to date anyone once he's gone... sorry," Secretkeeper sighed.
"Oh... okay," Mastermind said, clearly disappointed.
"But I can hook you up with someone," Secretkeeper claimed with a grin. She winked at him.
Mastermind seemed happier. "Really? I trust your judgement but who?"
"Wait and see. Be at the ocean side before dusk tonight," she stated with a smile.
"I'll also see what I can find out about Wishful," he answered, giving her a ridiculous smile.
He nodded and walked over to a shelf full of science books. Once his back was turned, Secretkeeper winked at Farsight. Farsight looked confused before nodding. She grinned from ear to ear.
Secretkeeper walked out of the library, chuckling quietly.
