"Dude, honestly. I couldn't give a fuck. I have places to be," He threw his bag across the living area, with force apparent as it hit the door. He shouldered the man before grabbing some random fruit out the fridge and prayed and hoped it wasn't rotten.

His father grimaced at Nicholas, as he walked past to grab his bag over by the front door.  "Where are you going? It's a Saturday!" He shouted so confidently, with a hidden slur.

"It's a Tuesday, but how could you keep up if you're constantly drugged up you fuck. I'm going to school." He throws his bag over one shoulder, with his fruit in the other hand. He watched the older man in disgust before opening the door and shutting it as hard as he could. Nicholas felt the door shake as he did, giving him a bit of satisfaction.

He walked down the driveway before picking up the pace and heading to school which happened to be about a mile down the road. His mood was had been set for the day, including beyond a normal eight hour school day. On this early moody day, the sun was beaming on his face, making him squint and appear as angry as he was internally. Its outfit was normal Nicholas; a graphic tee that was a bit larger than intended with some bright colored sweats and a cap in his bag in case his hair decided to go haywire.

"Boo!" Someone shouted from behind him, causing his reflex to become a swing over his left shoulder with his right fist. Yet luckily, for Brandon, he stepped back just in time to dodge the bullet.

"Really?" He looks him up in down disappointment

"What made you think it was a good idea to sneak up on me like that?" He asks as Brandon walks up to walk side by side.

He shrugged. "Maybe just to see you jump. Get a little scared for once in your life or something."

"Yea, no. Where's your girl at? She ditched you this morning? Again?" Nicholas lashes at him.

Brandon sucks his teeth. "Shit. Ditch me? I kicked her out. I wasn't feeling her and she left. Said she had homework to do anyway, so I said don—"

"I don't remember asking for detail." He bit into what happened to be an apple, a fresh snapping sound coming from his bite. Inside he was satisfied.

Appalled, Brandon stopped in his tracks. "Who put a stick up your ass, Mara?"

"My dad is home."

That's all he had to say for Brandon to close his mouth. The rest of their short walk to school was filled with silence, yet they still gave each other company as they had their first class together. There's no point in splitting up.

Also, this was because Nicholas didn't mind.

"Can someone, anyone please give me the answer to number 3?!" Mrs. Green squawked.

The class was dead pan and was giving her nothing. Except for one person. He raised his hand slowly, yet awkwardly as he looked around to see if anyone would compete to answer before him.

He smiled softly at the teacher. She grunted.

"No, not you. Anyone else?" She asked.

Brandon covered his mouth before muttering loudly, "It's because nobody did the fucking homework!"

This earned a scatter of giggles and chuckles from the class. The younger teacher leaned forward on to her desk towards the class, her cleavage exposed which made the boys clear their throats. Her hips poked out to one side as she shifted her weight, tired even if this was only the first class.

Nicholas stared at it shamelessly, leaning against the wall where his desk was jammed up against. He caught the attention of Mrs. Green. She stood up straight and which snapped him out of his trance.
