"So explain to me, why is your arm in sling honey?" Mrs. Arreaga asked politely as the majority of her attention was aimed at the road. This didn't stop her from being curious about what could've happened to the boy. She briefly turned her head to the boy in the back seat, before turning back.
Nick sighed, not knowing exactly what to say. He didn't want to lie to her, nor did he exactly want to tell her the whole truth. He knew if he did, she'd turn the car around faster than the blink of an eye, even if the turn was illegal. Yet, he wouldn't mind if this woman went and beat all that was left living out of his father.
He leaned back in the backseat, giving Brandon a look before he spoke. "I fell two stories down from a window."
She burst into nervous laughter, looking over at her son whom had a frightful look to him. Immediately she stopped, and got stiff and placed both hands on the wheel. As she turned she cleared her throat. "I thought you were joking. How does that even happen?"
"I'm clumsy."
This claim happens to be false. It isn't often that he trips or skips, even stutters over words. It's unlike him, and the last time Nick has had an injury like this was when he was around the sharp age of 9. Contrary to belief, this man is not in any way easily hurt.
"Nick, be more careful, okay sweetie?" She pleaded as she pulled into the garage of Brandon's home.
He nodded and smiled softly. "Yes ma'am."

Brandon walked into his sister's room which was now posing as Nick's own. He chuckled as he watched him sort his clothes in the obviously feminine room. He leaned his shoulder on the door frame as he watched his friend place his bag underneath the bed with a swiftness.
"What do you want?" Nick's agitation bleeding through his words as he sat on the edge of the bed.
Brandon not caring about his attitude, he began. "You coming to school tomorrow, right?"
He furrowed his eyebrows."For what?"
"I don't know, for an education? Also you have detention and so do I. I don't want to be alone."
He scoffs in response. "I'm injured, what work am I going to do?"
Brandon rolls his eyes, watching him adjust his sling. "First off, the doctor said that you won't need it as long as you sleep with the sling you should be good. Secondly, it's your left shoulder and you're right handed. Lastly, you and me both know if you don't show up to detention that bitch Mrs. Green--"
"Language, Brandon!" His mother shouts from her room down the hall.
He clears his throat before continuing. "Mrs. Green will add extra days for ones you don't come. We both know that. I say come to school and get it over with."
"Whatever. I'm only going to go to her class and that's it. She's enough for one headache."
"Good. Honestly I agree, I'd still hit." He chuckled, the thought of Edwin's actions coming back.
"Brandon, you'd fuck anything that speaks. Good night."Nick stands, taking off his shirt slowly as the sling was still in the way, but you got it eventually.
He sucked his teeth."Good night. But also fuck you," Brandon closes the door behind him as he left Nick alone to sleep.
"BRANDON!"
"Sorry!"
~*~*~*~
Brandon's walk to school was longer than Nick's by a few miles-- resulting in him getting up a bit earlier than usual. He didn't mind as the earlier he woke some how infused more serotonin than what his body is used to.
The two left the house and walked together that morning, a peaceful silence between the two that was common.
It was broken as Nick's laid on another person who he'd never noticed lived anywhere near Brandon.
"Is that that Kai girl?"
Brandon looked over at his friend, then looking in the direction his attention was pointed at. He squints his eyes as if he wasn't wearing glasses at the moment, trying to really figure out who that could be. It was obviously a girl, what a familiar one. Familiar enough to where he felt like shouting their name just to see.
"KAI!" Brandon yelled, before disappearing into the bushes before she could see him. This left Nick alone, on the opposite sidewalk standing there.
She turned her head, her expressing becoming hard to read as she scoped out the now lone boy out. "Why do you keep looking at me?"
"You cute and all, but that wasn't me. That's my friend, and he's hiding in the bushes being a creep."
Brandon grunted. "Fuck you!"
"Oh, that boy with glasses? Tell him he's cute." This was the first time he'd seen her smile. He almost smiled with her but refrained.
"For real?" Brandon stood.
She shook her head. "Not really, no, I'm gone."
Kai walks faster, ultimately giving Nick and Brandon a wonderful view even from the distance. Though out of the two, Nick got a bit to into it, to which his friend caught onto.
He almost smirked as he liked the way her hips swayed with so much expression, making her ass bounce just right. The way her pants hugged her just right made it all the more better. The things he could do with it just made him more amazed and placed him into a mini trance he couldn't describe. It was possible he'd looked at her ass before in the halls, but he secretly admits that knowing what her face looked like was truly the cherry on top.
"Does Nicky like what he sees?" He teased, poking at him, which only earned him a hard shove into the street.
"No."
"If only you could lie as good as you can beat someone the fuck up. Sad." He tsked at him, who huffed at response at the statement because he knew it was very true.
"What if I helped you out with that? To get with her."
"I would not want to get with her. I'd hit and quit. Then I'd be done—"
Brandon excitedly hops twice, making Nick pause in the middle of his sentence and give him a look. "I have a class with her,"
"She's not going to want to. She seems like a tease, I don't like that shit." He clenches his jaw.
He smiled back at the irked boy, patting his back. "You may be up your ass half the time, but I can still read you. I got you."
