Social Media does wonders with spreading news. As the next thing Jordan knew, her phone was going mental with notifications.
Fuck
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck. Her mom. Cristína Costello was bound to find out soon if not already.
Jordan called home. Luckily Britt picked up."Moms in the shower, she'll be out-"
"It's Ok. It's you I want to talk to Britt."
"What's wrong?"Jordan sighed.
"If I told you I loved a girl, what would you say?"
"Is it Mal?"Was it that obvious?
"Maybe." Jordan had to do everything to stop a smile from showing.
"I've seen it on Social Media. So have Xabi and Matt."
"What are they like?"
"Xabi's really pleased. Matt says 'About fucking time'."Jordan rolled her eyes at her brothers' obvious reactions.
"What about mom?"She heard her sister whimper.
"Oh Jords...she's gonna be really mad."Jordan knew that. But she wasn't going to let her sister take the flames.
"Well..." she whispered, "when mom finds out...tell her to speak to me at once please."
"Are you-"
"Please.""Ok Jordan...I will."
The call ended, and Jordan didn't know what to do.
Just then, Jessie came down the stairs and seeing her best friends face, knew something was up.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm fine Jess. There's no need to bother yourself."
"Jordan I can see by your watery eyes and pale face that you are not ok."Collapsing onto the chair, she added, "And it's my duty as your housemate to make you happy."
"Jess, that's fucking cringe."
"But it made you happy."
"True, true."Jordan sighed, picking herself up. "My mums not gonna approve of me and Mal...she's not a horrible person but she's a very strict Catholic."
Jess nodded, although she couldn't really understand. "So...you going to tell her?"Jordan shrugged. "I told Britt that when she finds out, I'll speak to her."
"That's very uncowardly of you, Jordan Marceñez-Costello."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Then the phone rang. With the person calling being Cristína Costello."Cuando empezaste a follar chicas?"
Oh, Jordan's mum was going to speak Spanish which she only really did when she was feeling very emotional."Mama-"
"¡No,no te crié así!"
"Yo-"
"Un homosexual? ¡Eres peor que tu padre!"With that, the line ended. It was quick but it was enough to bring Jordan to tears. Especially when her dad was brought up.
Seeing Jess coming over to her, Jordan let the water works flow as she rushed into her teammate's arms.As there wasn't any game that week, the duo resorted to Netflix and eating Chocolate ice cream, just something to take Jordan's mind over all the shit she had been through in a year.
She made sure to text though.
Francesco, please don't let Mama get mad at Britt. That's all I ask.
Jordan didn't know how her stepdad reacted to her coming out although it was safe to say his reaction wouldn't be anything like his wife's.
As they came to an end of their third film, Jordan's phone rang. She was hesitant to pick up up, especially upon seeing Francesco's contact.
However after assurances from Jess, Jordan answered."Um...hi?"
F: Hey Jords! How are you?
J: ...um Ok. I could definitely be better.
F: (sigh) I'm sure you know why I'm calling
J: Yeah?
F: I just want to apologise...on the behalf of your mom. She's very emotional right now. After your call, she went to bed and she's not came down since.
J: Look. I just want to say I'm sorry. I didn't mean...
F: To fall in love? (chuckle) I don't think much people do Jordan
J: So you're not...mad?
F: Why would I be? It's your life, your choice. Your mom would hate me saying this, but it's the truth. I think this is the first partner I approve of to be honest as well.
J: Thanks
F: I kind of knew it though
J: What do you mean?
F: Mal's face when your ex said she was jealous...your avoidance of her
J: It was that obvious?
F: Lets just say, we saw it coming. A lot of us did.
J: ...
F: Now if you don't mind, I have a question myself
J: Fire ahead
F: Can you promise...forever?
J: What does that mean?
F: (sigh) Commitment...you said was an issue. Keeping in mind you've always said you've never been in love
J: Francesco how can I...promise forever? So much can happen
F: Lets just say...playing love like a game doesn't usually end wellJordan could hear a bed creaking.
F: I think your mom is up...and listening to our conversation. So I'll say bye.
J: Ok but what did you...?Jordan never got to finish though as the call ended.
"Jess?" She called and her friend almost instantly came.
"Yes Jordan? What did he say?"
Jordan frowned. "He asked if I could promise forever."
Fleming rolled her eyes. "I love your family Jordan...but they can be so over dramatic."
Jordan nodded before going back onto Twitter where she saw #Jallery trending.
Jessie looked over Jordan's phone. "Jallery? That makes me hungry." She rubbed her stomach, "Do we have jelly?"Jordan laughed. She was glad that Jessie had her back even when not all of her family did.
