Kayley's POV
The car ride was fairly silent. Niall kept one hand on the wheel and the other holding my hand. I was wondering why Niall didn't trust Christie. I trusted her... Well, she seemed nice. I don't really-
I was snapped out of my thoughts as I felt the car slow down. I looked up and saw Christie sitting on the edge of the fountain in the middle of the park. Niall's hand tightened around mine. I looked at him and saw a weird facial expression. It was kind of a mix of anxiety, stress, and fear.
I gripped his hand a bit tighter and said, "It's gonna be fine, Niall. Trust me."
"I do trust you. I just don't trust her," he said.
I sighed. "You saw me beat up that Alex guy."
"Fine, but I'll stay here and keep an eye on you."
"Why don't you go back to the hotel and take a shower?" I asked. "You smell a little musty." I winked.
Nialler laughed and said, "This is the scent-" he waved his hands under his armpits (ew) "-of a man."
I rolled my eyes. I reached into the back of his car and got my crutches.
"Sorry. I'll go take a shower and change," he said as he smiled at me.
"Thank you," I sighed. "Bye!"
"Bye!" he said as I closed the door. I could've sworn I heard him mutter something that started like, "I lo-" but I bet he was just saying he'll be back later. I looked through the window and saw him staring sadly at his hand. I tapped on the window and his head snapped up. When I smiled and waved to him, he mirrored me. I sighed and hobbled away on my crutches.
Christie saw me coming and waved at me. I smiled, and I would've waved, but ya know, crutches. I crutched up to her and sat next to her, dropping my crutches to the ground.
"What'd you do to your foot?" she asked.
I predicted this. "I stepped on a piece of broken glass, so..."
"Yeah," she said, nodding her head understandingly. "So, I have a question."
"Shoot," I responded.
She pulled a magazine out of her purse. That was called a purse? It was a gray blue color and it was one of those huge purses that you could knock someone out with with one blow to the face.
The headline of the magazine read:
NIALL HORAN SPOTTED WITH MYSTERY GIRL?
There was a picture of Niall and me at Nando's the night he gave me the bracelet. How the hell did they get this picture in a magazine so fast?! And what's up with the question mark at the end of the headline? If there's a picture of Niall and a girl no one knows, it's obviously a mystery girl, no question mark necessary.
"What is this?" Christie asked.
"Well, you already know how I'm a Directioner, and how we met them at Nando's, and how Niall gave me his number..." I started.
"Mhm?" she pressed impatiently.
"Well we met here the next day and he asked to meet at Nando's that night, so I said sure, and he told me he really liked me and I told him I really liked him back but I just got out of a relationship so it was too soon to be in another relationship?" Why do almost all my explanations end where my voice goes high like it's a question? Ugh.
"OH my gosh," she sighed, exasperation filling her voice.
"What?" I asked. I was genuinely confused.
