Kayley's POV
Kate had decided that it wasn't necessary to unpack her stuff just yet. After about 30 minutes of us dancing to 1D, unpacking my stuff, and putting my One Direction posters on the wall, we heard a knock on the door.
I ran over to answer it. When I opened the door, a really tall girl stood there. She had mocha colored skin and pretty hazel eyes. She looked about my age and was wearing a light green Hollister sweatshirt, dark blue skinny jeans, and Sperrys. She was holding a little fluffy white kitten.
"Hi!" she said, smiling warmly. "I'm Alice. I saw you guys moving in and thought I'd stop by and say hello! I live next door, by the way." She seemed really nice.
"Hi, Alice. I'm Kayley, and this is Kate." Without my knowing, Kate appeared by my side. "Actually, it's only me that's gonna be living here. Kate just came up here with me to help unpack and stuff. And who is this?" I asked as I scratched the white kitten on the top of its head.
"Oops! I sorta forgot about her! This is Chachi! Say hi!" Alice said to Chachi as she she waved the kitten's little paw in mine and Kate's direction.
"Awwww!" Kate said. "I've always wanted a kitten! But my mum's allergic."
"Oh, I'm sorry! Maybe when you move out or go to university, if you have plans to, you can get a cat," Alice suggested. Yes. She seemed very nice.
"Yeah, maybe..." Kate trailed off.
Alice seemed really nice, and this was the perfect opportunity to make a new friend in a new town. "Would you like to come inside for a while?" I asked, pointing over my shoulder with my thumb into my new house. Haha "my". That's never gonna get old.
Alice looked surprised. "Uhh, sure!" she said.
We walked to the living room and I heard her muffle a scream. "Oh my gosh," she whispered in awe at my posters. "You're a Directioner too?!"
"Yes, I-" is all I got out before she screamed and pulled me into a hug.
"I can already tell that we're going to be B-O-D-L-F-Fs!" (Best One Direction Loving Friends Forever, in case you didn't know).
I started laughing. "Yeah, buddy!"
Kate was in the kitchen the whole time. She came back into the living room with a couple of PopTarts. Fatty. Haha, just kidding. She's actually underweight (not like anorixic underweight, just by a couple of grams).
Kate saw Alice staring at my posters. "Ahh, another Directioner, I see," she said with a mouth full of PopTart. "Vas happenin?!" Kate yelled, spitting crumbs all over the place. I swear, that girl has an appetite almost as big as Niall's.
All three of us laughed. "Well," Kate sighed when she was done eating her PopTarts, "I better get going home now. It's already 4! It's time for dinner!"
"Kate," I said. "You just had two PopTarts..."
Kate rolled her eyes. "And? I'm still hungry!" We laughed.
"I guess this is it then," Kate said, obviously holding back the tears that had very suddenly sprang to her eyes.
I realized that after she said that, I was fighting to hold back the tears too. Don't you hate that moment when you're about to cry and you have that knot in your throat, and you're afraid to talk in fear that if it burst, it would let all your tears leak out of your eyes? Yeah. That's what was happening to me at that moment.
"Bye," I said to the best of my ability. "I love you so much Kate!" It didn't really come out as "talking" but more of a whisper/squeak. "You have to come over in a couple days and visit. You still need to help me break up with Jordan." I smiled as she chuckled, allowing one tear to fall down her tan cheek.
