Colson chuckled as Casie struggled to carry a box nearly bigger than her down the stairs. "You need help Cas?"

"No dad, I got it!" she insisted. Colson stood at the bottom anyways, making sure she didn't fall. When she reached the bottom without injury, she stuck her tongue out at her father. "I told you I had it!"

Colson playfully rolled his eyes and waved a hand at her. She dropped the box into a pile next to the door before turning to go back up the stairs.

Realizing that his house had become cluttered and messy, Colson had decided to use one of his rare days off to clean the house, with Casie's help. They had two piles by the door, one for garbage and one for donation.

He followed his daughter back up the stairs and went to his room to see if he had missed anything. He checked his closet to see if there was any clothes he didn't want anymore that he had missed. s he rummaged through the closet, he noticed a shoe box hidden away in the very back on the shelf. He took it down, curious as to what it was.

Upon opening the box, Colson had to sit down on his bed in shock. Inside the box was a collection of polaroids of Colson and his ex-girlfriend.

The pictures ranged from the two of them together to pictures of them with Casie during holidays, or even just spending time together, to the two of them with his friends on tour. There was even one of just her, asleep on Colson's bed in one of his t-shirts, cuddling a bear he had given her for their first anniversary. He wondered what had happened to that bear.

"My room is cleared out," Casie said, appearing in the doorway. "Are you ready to go? What'd you find?"

She sat next to her father and looked into the shoe box. Her face lit up when she saw what it was. "Oh, (Y/N)! I miss her!"

"Me too," Colson said.

He had been with (Y/N) for nearly two years before they broke up. Colson's schedule got between the two and Colson felt as though he wasn't giving her what she deserved. They were both heartbroken and the ordeal had inspired many tracks on Colson's album that followed. It happened a little over a year ago, but seeing the pictures made the wound feel fresh.

"You should message her," Casie told him.

Colson shook his head. "I don't even have her number anymore, and she probably doesn't have mine."

"She has the same Instagram. I follow her still."

Before he knew what she was doing, Casie took a picture of the shoe box and typed up a message. She showed it to her dad after sending it. The message read: "spring cleaning and dad found something!"

"Casie, no!" Colson said, reaching for her phone.

She quickly locked it and shoved the phone into her pocket. "Too late, it's sent!"

Colson sighed as Casie stood and left the room. As he started putting the box away, his phone chimed. When he checked it his heart nearly stopped. (Y/N)'s Instagram name popped up on his phone. He was greeted with a picture of the bear from the polaroid picture with the message, "look familiar?"

He couldn't help but smile as he responded, "weird, I just saw a picture of that bear."

"I can't believe you kept those pictures."

"they're nice pictures, I couldn't part with them." Colson paused a moment before adding, "I needed some reminder that I had something good at one point."
