Isaac...She said yes.
I still can't comprehend it.
Unfortunately we couldn't do anymore today than "introduce" ourselves. But that's a start, and I'm willing to put in everything I have in order to get her back. To get my Ash back.
I'm back at home in my room, thinking about how I'm going to do this. She can't leave the hospital yet, but I'm going to get her out of there sooner or later.
There's a knock on my door and Hadley, my twin sister, steps inside. "How did it go today?" She asks.
"Amazing. She agreed to the thing, to starting over and letting me help her." I say and she smiles at me.
"Good. I wish I could help too, but... yeah." She says, frowning.
She can't help at all, she'll be in rehab for the whole summer. "I know. But everything that's happening to everyone, is the best thing." I say.
She nods her head. "Yeah. Well, I have to pack, so I'll leave you alone. I love you." She says, walking out.
"I love you, too." I say, but she's already out of the room.
I spread out on my bed and think for a moment, staring up at the ceiling. Tomorrow, we can have a conversation, learn small things about each other.
I'll start slow and small, and when I can get her out of the hospital, I'll take her to our childhood places. One day at a time.
I will find her. Deep down inside of the broken girl she is right now, I will find the free spirited, beautiful soul she is.
I will find her.
^^^^^^
"You're back today?" She asks as I walk into the room.
I give her a smirk. "I'll be here everyday. I wasn't kidding when I said that I wouldn't give up on you. No matter how long it takes."
"Don't... do you not have friends?" She asks quietly, almost as if she's scared to ask me.
"First of all, don't ever feel scared to ask me anything. I'm who you can talk to, all of the time about anything. And secondly, no not really. I mean I have a couple, but they're mainly school friends. I do fine on my own." I say with a shrug.
"Oh, okay."
"Yeah. So I figured we could talk about small stuff today. Like, what your favorite color is, and other stuff."
When I mention that, she looks hopeful for a moment and you can tell she's thinking about it. But when she suddenly frowns, I know she doesn't remember it.
"I brought color sheets. I went to the paint store and got cards of the main colors. What I'm going to do, is put them in front of you and you'll figure it out." I say.
"But what if I don't remember it?" She asks.
"Then you find a new one. Although mines never changed, and one time you told me it would forever stay the same. So I'm curious."
I sit on the end of the bed and lay all of the colors out in front of her. She faces me more and watches as I lay them out.
She stares at them for a moment and then looks up at me. "What's your favorite color?"
I can feel the corner of my mouth come up as I tilt my head slightly and look at her. "The color of your eyes. Always has been, always will be."
Her cheeks turn slightly red, that confuses her and she touches her cheek. "That was weird." She said. "It felt like my face was on fire."
I let out a chuckle. "You were blushing. It's been awhile, obviously, since I've seen you do that. And I'm glad I can still make you." I say. "Okay, now look at the colors, and pick."
She looks down at them in front of her. She runs her fingers across the colors, fascinated. They stop on the orange card and she picks it up, looking at it.
She tunes it around in her hand to where it's facing me. She looks up at me. "This one." She whispers.
"I knew it. The same as when we were younger." I say, laughing. "Ugly orange."
A smile breaks onto her face and she lets out a small laugh, taking my breath away. "It's not ugly." She says quietly.
I give her and the color a skeptical look. "Yes it is. I'm sorry, but I don't see how it's your favorite." I say.
She frowns for a moment and shrugs one of her shoulders. "I don't either." She says, looking at it in her hands. "There has to be a reason, right?" She asks, looking up at me.
"Yeah. Maybe because of the sunsets or sunrise?" I say, questioning the last bit.
"I wouldn't really know. I haven't been outside since I've been awake..." she frowns.
She looks out of the window, but the other side of the hospital blocks any view of the sun she should be able to see.
I take a deep breath and let it out, that makes her look at me. "I told myself, I'd wait to get you out of here. But if you haven't been outside at all... I might have to sneak you out now." I say, whispering the last part.
Her eyes light up as she looks at me. "Really? You would do that?" She asks.
I get off the bed and put my hand out for her to grab. "Of course I would, sunshine. Now, let's go have an adventure."
